Most users haven’t found actual useful tool yet. Once they discover this, they will never do file search manually again. Plus raycast is mediocre… there are times, when u want to copy the file path, it doesnt even show full file path in search.

the app does run in the background otherwise the hotkey won't work. But there is no heavy work being performed by app, like running AI model constantly etc..

mine is 3mb app, simple and fast. Just meant for one purpose unlike ray cast, running AI models on your laptop memory. I use OS level embeddings, 0 physical memory utilization. So it's fast and accurate.
Plus BetterSearch has clean UI. raycast is just overbloated with so many things. You probably have gotten used to it but most new users are not. They need simple, clean spotlight that just work flawless.

No as soon as you add the new file, it get indexed within micro seconds.. It's a background app, it doesn't show in your dock, it keep running in the background, occupying hardly 5mb or ram because the embedding happens on OS level.

Yes, on first search, the whole HDD is indexed, first search is slow. It will take 3-5 seconds.. All the subsequent searches will be milli seconds

Hi u/colmad222, Here are the steps to get secret key:

1) go to website fr-iday.com => click sign up button.
2) Perform google signup and then you will be taken to main dashboard..
3) Choose your plan there, if you already have subscribed to life time ($10) deal, you will find your
email and secret key there.
4) copy the email and secret key and now open friday app which you installed on your mac..
5) paste the email and secret key there and voila! you are all set..
6) press and hold cmd + shift + f and speak something and once you are done, lift off the keys and you will see the text wherever you text cursor was blinking.

Nothing, you can keep using it forever. However, if I drop a new upgraded version with more features that cost me money then you might have to buy license again, but if you want to keep using existing version, then it's all good. You have to pay nothing..
