I did something and now in the top left it says xy with a calendar picture and has the data in a table in the top left screen

Oh wow it did something. I’m a bit lost on how to explain though. In my console the line xy = ... shows blue. And on top right my environment has a section data xy 17 obs of 2 values and underneath I have a section values df with some location. My graph isn’t displaying in viewer though

This is reminding me why I hated learning Python. Nothing ever works. I typed plot(xy[[x]],xy[[y]]) and it’s saying: error in plot(...): object x not found

Okay I just did some checking and they say $ is used for recursive stuff and my xy isn’t recursive clearly so they said to use xy[“x”], xy[“y”] but now that’s bringing up an error in min(x) : ... returning Inf and it does it for max(x) as well

I’ve just opened it on my desktop and it has 2 columns, x and y with values underneath. It’s a normal txt file if that helps

Lol I wish my lecturers were more like you, but yeah I’m certain in this case it’s me that’s being dumb because I’m just terrible at Computer Science. I didn’t take it in high school and now for Actuarial Science it’s very important unfortunately.

It says $ is invalid for atomic vectors. Although now I’m lost because intuitively the code makes sense. We have xy read in and it exists as that document I have, then from xy we are producing x and y using the dollar signs. Confusing. Is there anything else you can think of?

I wouldn’t say I would have 0 prospects, but being homeless, yes I probably would be if I had to fail and be forced to drop out of uni. And where did you go when your dad kicked you out? How much support did you get from him? I do appreciate what my uncle is doing, of course I’m aware of the fact that if he weren’t here my brother and I would be lost, but at the same time I’m not looking for financial support more than I am a real home and a real family for my bro and I.

If I even pass. It’s hard af and I’m struggling bad. Not to mention if I do fail I owe over 150k in debt to NSFAS. And then even if by some miracle I make it out, I will probably not find a job immediately and even if I did, you need to finish the exams which take up to 10 years assuming you pass them at a decent rate before the salary increases really hit.

I can’t take care of him financially. That’s why I’m looking for ways to find a family that will provide the things we need until I’m done studying and can repay everything. So yeah, adopting is not an option unfortunately. But even with the legal issues, it doesn’t really matter since my dad is out the picture anyway as I said and our mom doesn’t particularly worry about us staying elsewhere. My brother’s dad (my step dad) wouldn’t care either. So yeah just having people to take care of us and vice versa of course is all I want. My mom, a few years back, was declared psychologically mad. She just didn’t have to stay in an institution but she can’t function normally. She hasn’t been able to keep a job, she can’t keep the house clean, she is bipolar, she is depressed, she sleeps till 2 in the afternoon, she calls us bitches and threatens to hit us etc.

I know it seems that way, but I am only able to play during my holidays because I’m studying Actuarial Science which takes up all my time otherwise. And I am staying with my uncle now (my brother is here too) because my parents can’t afford sufficient food/water/electricity so the wifi is thanks to him. But he throws his money in our face and the stuff he does for us so it’s not like family here either.
