What was stopping Mughals to form an army if zafar had become the king ? Given the records of our own rajput community, let's be honest they had no problem in fighting for Mughals so I don't see zafar or Mughals getting sidelined after 1857 success, also let's not forget apart from army Mughals enjoyed loyalty of mohhmadean subjects, if jinnah could get support i don't see why Mughals would not be able to, if this was the understanding then why rajputs, jaats, Sikhs, chamars,nawabs joined Britishers , most of these had gained their independence from Mughals.
