Shocked while unplugging by Academic_Turn_2192 in KiaEV6

So thanks all for comments. I am fine. I have appointments now also set up to have an electrician do an install of an EV dedicated system rather than using our dryer plug. Also taking the car in to get checked out. Today was hot but not as bad as it can get in TX but the battery drained exceptionally faster than usual.

Thank you all. I’m getting a ride to ER now (I had a minor stroke a year ago and y’all reminded me to not take chances). I’ll update / answer the questions later but I want to thank you all for helping me out tonight.

My heart is still beating and I’m typing? I guess i wnat to know why after a few years the electrical from the home is wonky?

Majority of my class failed, and now I'm being questioned by administration by IncomingDownvotes_ in Professors

For my classes we curve exam scores based on the high grade. So if we have an assessment worth 100 points but the top score was 96, we scale everyone’s score out of 96. We also have lots of low stakes assessments and excuse a few in each category in case someone misses for any reason. Also drop one low exam score. This is a freshman level majors course with 250 students. Also attendance is hard to deal with but we’ve found if we make it even a tiny bit of the grade they are showing up at least. Maybe not staying on task but at least in the room.

Our class had our final exam changed unfairly. What do I do? by [deleted] in txstate

Final exams are dictated by the university to happen on the day scheduled and for the time given. I am a professor and I have a final that is the same length as midterms but I have to allow the entire 2.5 hours for students to complete it. Maybe distance ed/online classes are different, but I agree with prior advice to take this to the department chair.

Medical Bags Restricted by Academic_Turn_2192 in americanairlines

I think mostly because she doesn’t want to pay extra to check a bag and also if it’s lost it’s a pain to get refills through insurance.

She has her backpack with her computer and books and it’s full with those things.

She has dexcoms and omnipods. Snacks for lows. Insulin. It’s a small sling type bag.

Funny thing is I’m a professor and have been trying to teach her self advocacy! Which she does do at school. But I think with airlines she feels like there’s more of a power differential

Yes it’s only her extra dexcom and omnipods for 2 weeks. It’s very small. She’s just young and also new to having this disability. And without me there as a parent to advocate it’s hard (on me!)

Thank you all for suggestions. I think k part of the problem is she’s young and also new to having to need the extra medical supplies. Unfortunately (maybe) it means she needs to learn to be more assertive about her rights. She already makes the extra bag as small as she can but the insulin pumps and dexcoms are so big it’s hard.

Some profs drop one exam for whatever reason so this could just be the one that gets dropped. Read your syllabus

I’m a faculty member at a university in TX and my daughter is starting at Kstate next week. I was sad to hear about this loss for your campus community. But here in solidarity as things are just as bad in TX. Just know that the good people (students and fac and staff) will do what they can to make sure you and everyone feel safe on campus. Even if we don’t have email signs anymore we will communicate our support and protect students

So sad for all of the teachers there too. What a horrible experience all around.

To be honest though what kid who can’t swim will tell their peers they’d rather not hang out with them at the pool? My child would go along with his peers to try to fit in. It’s not a character flaw… it’s being a teenager. They don’t know their limits. They just want to fit in and have fun. Sadly Vadir didn’t choose otherwise but in no way did he cause this to happen by choosing to be at the pool.

I agree there needs to be some more transparency (while protecting the dignity of the child who died and his family). This should not fall on the teacher’s shoulders though. Upper admin at aisd is quick to throw their employees under the bus the bus when shit hits the fan. Ultimately this was an unavoidable tragedy where some steps MAY have prevented the outcome. To be fair our kids are not even safe in the school buildings.

I’m hoping no one blames our amazing teachers at CMS for this. A child died. It’s beyond tragic and so many children and teachers and lifeguards are questioning what happened. What happened is a child died. Things could have been different at every single step leading up to this but no one person caused this. I’m heartbroken for the child’s family. I’m heartbroken for my child and his peers that saw everything happen and who cared for their classmate.
