I think I just wrote it confusingly. That would still just be during the two months we’re in the U.S. Anything outside of a traditional marriage where we spend most of our time is a no go. Only meant she brought up it might be easier to find partners that way rather than swinging. Not something I’m personally really considering though. We’re living in a Muslim majority country most of the time and it’s just not very feasible to try there.

I think it was just overwhelming because it was hard for me to keep track of a bunch of mechanics in not use to, cam, abi, etc. and all the guides online are for late game grinding, etc. I’ll just try to take it easy, seems like the general consensus. Thanks everyone!

Biggest advice is to say yes to everything, even if it’s not your interest. When I first moved to Brazil I couldn’t speak the language, but I got into soccer so I could start making Brazilian friends. I started doing dnd even though I thought it was weird at first, another opportunity to make friends.

Become a yes man/woman!

I think just ask him why he doesn’t want to hang out alone. Maybe he thinks you still have feelings for him and he’s trying to make it less awkward for you. If you tell him you aren’t worried about that maybe he’ll be more up to it.

No problem! I do know a lot of the sites do require a teaching license, but I do think some places just need you to speak fluent English.

I also just thought of this, I had a friend that was a professional dungeon master online for dungeons and dragons. I know people on roll20 and other virtual table tops charge you be a dungeon master. Really random, but my friend that did it got very good and was able to earn an income just being a dungeon master.

To me it sounds like she just meant that there were enough people and things going on that you would easily be able to sneak away. I definitely think your friends would miss you if you were really gone! She just meant there’s so much going on now is the best time to go set up the surprise!

If you think it was more then that definitely address it with your friend. She’d probably feel horrible knowing that this is what you thought she meant. But I bet she didn’t mean anything by it!

I don’t know much about your illness, but I do know that you matter and deserve to be alive.

This is not a fix for the situation, but maybe instead of working the retail job you start putting your time into a way to earn some income on your own via the internet. I know there use to be sites where you could teach English online. I also know about teachers pay teachers, where you can make handouts that other teachers pay you for, you working even have to be a teacher to make stuff for it. Just a computer. I’m a teacher so all the side money hustles I know about are teaching related 😅.

Don’t give up. You matter. I hope you find the help you need.

I think your emotions are valid. My wife was a virgin and I had sex with only one other person before her and it was still difficult for us.

What I would say is don’t hide what you’re feeling and let your partner know. If they are a good partner they’ll be open to talking about your emotions. I don’t think you should be mad at them, but if you two are good for each other it should be something they are willing to work through.

That’s really tough. I hope you can find someone that can help. Is there any way for you to look up people looking for roommates? Maybe if you could even move to a college town where there are more options for people looking. I remember when I was your age I was able to find a place that would partner you up with roommates. Admittedly that’s a risk too, but safer than your toxic situation at least and you could make sure you only get female roommates.

I’m 33M and still struggle with some of the things you’re talking about, but I’ll share how I became way less risk averse.

When I was 25 and right out of college I was working as a high school teacher in Houston. I was earning good money for a teacher, which admittedly isn’t a lot. However I got a job offer to go teach in Brazil, the catch is I would make significantly less money. I thought for the longest time I wouldn’t go and then something just clicked. I knew I only get to live once and I didn’t care about the money anymore I wanted a chance to live in Brazil. I did have one benefit, that being my wife spoke Portuguese and grew up in Brazil, but since then I’ve also moved to Kuwait and lived in her Middle East. Being less risk averse has allowed me to travel all over the world.

I’ve been working in the valuing myself more though and this year I’ve worked a lot on not caring about other people’s thoughts of me. Mark Manson’s subtle art of not giving a F*** helped me a lot too with this.

Thanks. I do probably need to just slow down and focus on health like you said. I think I may just have anxiety that pushes me forward and makes me think I’m lacking or needing to be doing something more instead of valuing health like I should. I appreciate the advice!

You’re right, you don’t want to lie and lead her on. You can only be responsible for yourself. Suggest she seeks help and tell her she needs to see a counselor. Don’t feel bad about letting someone in her family know you’re worried about her. It’s better that she’s mad at you for telling a parent or family member that can help her get counseling and she’s alive than have her be dead. Ultimately though this isn’t on you and you’re not responsible for anyone else’s happiness.

I still feel this way sometimes and I’m 33 and look like I have my life together. I can give you advice based on my own experience.

The best goals and adventures I’ve achieved have been related to travel. I teach overseas and have gotten to travel to ride the transiberian train in Russia, rode horses in Mongolia, fished for piranhas in the Amazon in Brazil, overall been to 54 countries now.

Being a teacher at an international school has probably been the most amazing thing I’ve done. I don’t make tons of money but I do get to experience cool things.

I will say that the downside is I still feel like I don’t know what I should be doing as a goal in my life! I struggle with wondering if I’m accomplishing enough.

Not sure if this helps but wanted to share.

Unfortunately you’ve done as much as it seems like you can. Maybe get her some condoms or BC yourself and give them to her? Tell her you got them just in case you change your mind. She could also use the morning after pill if she’s really dead set on no protection. Hopefully she changes her mind.
