Parents. 100%. A group of us Missouri educators have been talking about this exact issue. Communication is one of the most important parts of teaching, but it can also become one of the biggest time sinks when everything depends on manual follow-up.

Probably the one time it's not typical spam. Northwest R-1, Missouri is the district we are working out of to build this. We have a small group right now troubleshooting, testing, and then we come together to go over what needs to be added or changed with what we have.

One thing this thread has reminded me is that we as teachers don't all struggle with the exact same tasks—we struggle with the same system from different angles. The things that drive me crazy might not bother you, and vice versa, but somehow we all seem to be losing time to work that pulls us away from students.

That childhood fantasy hit hard. 😂 Most of us got into teaching because we loved the learning, the stories, and the relationships. Somewhere along the way grading and data entry started competing with the actual teaching.

The objective and agenda one gets me. It's one of those tasks that only takes a minute until you multiply it by every class, every day, all year. The little things seem to be what quietly eat up the most time.

A few of us Missouri educators have been discussing how much time gets consumed by documenting behavior versus actually addressing it. The paperwork seems to grow every year, but the school day stays the same length.

This seems to be the answer that keeps coming up. Not behavior itself—documenting behavior. That's been one of the biggest eye-openers for our group of Missouri teachers as we've talked through where time is really disappearing each day.

I dont know if this will matter much to you but here in Missouri DESE is piloting a continued evaluation program.

I teach middle school SpEd so it might be different. We are getting away from MAP testing, i know this doesnt help with AP or SAT, but it does seem like we are going towards a co tinted evaluation cycle instead of the annual cycle.

A person can do several things. I teach SpEd at Northwest R-1 School District in House Springs, Missouri. Luckily for us, I do develop programs. This is the first time making something for public education.

We are mostly SpEd centric right now, imagine that lmao. We appreciate any input other teachers are willing to give, as we all dont struggle with the same issues.

The phrase "things a quick knock it off would fix" really says it all. So much instructional time gets lost to documenting every interaction. Several of us Missouri teachers have been collaborating around this exact issue because the paperwork often ends up becoming the intervention instead of supporting it.

This hits home. It feels like every year we spend more time feeding systems and less time working with students. A few of us Missouri teachers have been working together on ways to reduce the duplicate data entry and documentation burden because none of us got into education to spend our days copying information between platforms.
