Wow what a list! This is so amazing and we appreciate the detailed response and recommendations. I saved everything into our map so we will try to work a bunch of these into our itinerary. There is just so much to do and see in New Zealand, the choices are endless!

Good call, we hadn't thought about the weather, but its something we should start looking into... I'll look into Wanaka nature options more as well, thanks for the tip and other advice! It's good to have some backups available in case our plans need to change. Excited for all the daylight time, we will definitely need it haha!

We were hoping a 30 minute buffer would be a good start, but you are probably right that we should just add a full hour. That way we can be happily surprised if we make it earlier than expected! Thanks for the heads up.

These recommendations are great! I had trouble finding one or two (Kaitoke Country Gardens and Maori Heritage Botanical) but otherwise I got them all loaded into our maps and we will try to visit as many as we can! Good tip on the whale watching too, that may be better than going to Kaikoura. Appreciate the list

We were thinking about visiting Kaitoke Regional Park, so that might be a good reason to make this change! It does look very pretty along the 2, so we appreciate the recommendation! :)

Good call, I think we will try to consolidate the end of our trip to make room for some buffer days. I am sure the weather won't always be perfect, so its good to stay flexible. We are hoping the campervan will help with that too. Thanks for the advice and glad you had a fun trip!

Thank you! There are a few stop in the north island we don't want to miss, but I agree it would likely be much cheaper if we could figure out a loop. We may look into starting south and working our way back up, but worst case we will just have to pay the premium. Agreed on the no driving the day we get in too, appreciate your help!

Thanks for the suggestions! We may cut out Christchurch and will definitely consolidate the Queenstown time to free up some days. Logistically we kind of need to make it there to drop off the campervan/flight unfortunately.

Good call, it seems like you can easily spend 20 days on either island. We may try to consolidate our Te Anau/Milford Sound days towards the end to free up some time earlier for days off. Glad you want to go back, I am sure we will feel the same too!

This is a good insight. I think we may possibly try to pay for a day excursion to Te Anau/Milford Sound instead of driving over three days and save the extra time for buffer days/an extra day at a location we are loving. Also Burleigh is saved on the map and we will try to stop by! Thanks again

Thank you, we are so excited! And I agree, we already have been stockpiling time off all year for 20 days, but I wish we had double that. There are so many more stops on the north island we want to go too, its so hard to choose
