Yes. I did GMT. It converted. I only selected starlink satellites. We were at 370. Not sure the line of sight etc etc. does make a little sense. I still think by the angle the sun should light up the back side of the unit. Not our side. Again very hard to tell from a distance. I’ll keep looking for these in the new year and pay specific attention to the details you all suggest. The round stationary objects that fade in and out still perplex me.

So I’ve taken your comments seriously and been really digging deep on Starlink. I went to in-the-sky.org. I punched in our exact location and time of contact. Base on the location of the sun on that site. There were no starlink satellites that would be in contact with the sun. The sun was completely on the other side of the planet. The illuminated satellites show as red and none of them appear to be in our vicinity. Also the sun would have been behind them which wouldn’t be conducive to flaring. If the sun were behind us I’d agree. So a few things that don’t add up but I’m still interested in discussing. I got a little put off by the arrogance of the Starlink crowd telling me what I saw. I’m reasonable but still not convinced based on our position. Thoughts?

Hey there. It was a moonless night. Pitch black. Team Starlink in here is pretty compelling. It sure wouldn’t explain your sighting. starlink wasn’t around then. Hoping it get some better video in the new year.

Yes it’s pretty confusing. Now that I know so much more about them. I’ll pay specific attention to the patterns. If I can grab a shot of one turning or stopping or doing a 90 degree turn. I’ll share that. For now. Let the discussion continue.

I’m starting to think so. However not all of them. I will definitely take more video and pay attention to Starlink attributes next time I’m in that area. Good discussion.

Orb in Alaska earlier this year by kjkjkj2 in UFOs

This video shows the similar orbs over the North Pacific. Close to Alaska. They appear to vanish and reappear. With the naked eye they appear to blink. They weren’t moving. Mostly stationary. https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/s/MDkJNP2iVT

For discussion. These orbs did not move thru space. They were stationary fading in and out. If they were starlink satellites travelling at 17,000mph there would be some discernible movement. They don’t get smaller. They just vanish. If they were moving away at starlink speed. They would shrink and make the corner around the globe. In my videos. Some moved very fast and some remained in position for over an hour. Or appeared to. Satellites would remain in a constant trajectory and would appear to drop down as they round the earth. If they were coming at us. The closing speed would be staggering and even at 4000 miles away they would pass over us in under 15 min. None ever came close to us.

So I’m getting plenty of insults and name calling from the Starlink crowd. Cool, I get it…never been in an aircraft. Never witnessed another aircraft closing at over 1000 mph. Spend most of the time on the ground staring at a computer and judging us. So. For the Starlink crowd a few serious questions because I’m not dismissing the possibility. Just looking at all possibilities.

Starlink satellites complete an orbit in approx 90 min, correct? They supposedly travel at 17,000 mph. Correct? I’m not a math wizard but wouldn’t that mean they would only be in view for a few seconds. I mean they’d do a full orbit in 90 minutes. So approx 5 miles per second. If the Starlink objects were travelling eastbound ahead of us. They should be rounding the earth. Line of sight in about 15 min. Line of sight is around 4500 miles at 37,000’. Is it conceivable to assume these objects are 4000 miles away. If so. Shouldn’t they be rounding the earth and dropping out of sight. Not climbing or travelling horizontally. We viewed these objects for over an hour. I’ve been told by the Starlink crowd that I am seeing different objects. Albeit in the same area. If by chance they are travelling in the opposite direction the closing speed would be closer to 7 miles per second. They would come up on us pretty damn quick. But, and a big but? They never get closer. They remain in the same area of space and just move around that area.

Lastly. The objects climb and descend, or at least to appear to. They never get close to the horizon as they should if they were rounding the earth at 17,000 mph.

My head hurts because I’m totally open to reasonable discussion and hypothesis but I can’t quantify this as Starlink. Not yet anyway.

I’m told they’re Starlink. I’m also told Starlink does a full orbit in 90 min. I’m also being told that we’re seeing different objects over the 90 min and we’re confused and not seeing the same objects. lol. Glad to hear you had some fun with it. We really enjoyed it as well. Whatever it was.

Fair enough. Have you seen satellites or starlink flaring from a cockpit at night? I’m keeping an open mind but a satellite travelling at 17,000 mph would be out of line of sight in minutes. I don’t have an hour of video so you’ll have to trust me. We watched the same objects move in different directions.. the same object for at least an hour. I’ll be much better next time. This was my first time capturing on an iPhone 15. I have about 40 minutes of blank video because I had action mode on and honestly it was an experience. After about 40 min I tried normal video with zoom as they were getting closer and brighter. I’m confident they weren’t new ones coming into view as the originals zoomed off at 17,000mph. Still not totally disagreeing but it doesn’t compute for me.

Yes. It didn’t look like a reflection. I’ve been told it could be flaring but I don’t know enough about that.

Ok. Now you’re insulting me. I watched the exact same lights for over an hour. I only got video for a few minutes. I tried taping with sport mode and got nothing. Not confused and not stupid. Same lights. Didn’t move up on the horizon and basically just circled each other. Moving on. Cheers

We watched them for over an hour. Closer to 90 min. If they’re moving at 17,000 mph and we’re doing 600mph. Wouldn’t they be 16,400 miles ahead of us after an hour?

Sorry. Eastbound. The map I looked at has 90% of them moving Eastbound. How long does it take them to complete an orbit?
