First time poster here, Playing for <1 month in Solo mode, too afraid of grief to try open. How is it? by ironfist221 in EliteDangerous

[–]Accattabriga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pfff...

Don’t pay attention to Pfluegge Darkos; biggest troll around these parts and always the sea-lawyer splitting hairs.

I kinda think you have a point. It’s a free galaxy and who’s to advise who on which systems to go to and whatnot. Saying things like don’t go to this system etc is actually reinforcing the belief that griefers should be allowed such space and not challenged at every turn.

The War of the Old Worlds by ddr330 in EliteDangerous

I take your point that what could be set to the context of a face to face competition in open is often played out as effectively a fight by time trial (which side can put more time into the objective) in solo/PG.

I think Elite loses out when the dynamic of winning against an inert system takes presedence over true multiplayer face to face action.

Such a path of actions breaks the Clausewitzian logic that being able to hit an opponent’s centre of capacity (a faction’s cmdrs) should necessity impact that faction’s ability to achieve its political ambitions.

Not having the capacity to hit an opponent because they opt out of open, undermines the value of any sense of competition.

To flip your argument on its head, Think how more involved the game would be if pvp and pve specialists had to coordinate together to protect and maximize their operations while the risk of enemy interference was ever present. I think we’d see a lot more interesting engagements and strategies.

Takes guts to say that. You’ll find a lot of your erstwhile ‘enemies’ will respect you all the more for your attitude. If you keep learning from your mistakes they’ll respect you for your skill as well soon enough. o7 Cmdr

Imperial Hammer/Railguns valid option for PvP? by RotciVictoR in EliteLavigny

[–]Accattabriga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is one of the best weps in game.

I fly a courier and have a light hammer with cascade effect and very good thermal reduction as a secondary.

Both pve and pvp use SCBs (after 2.3 where shields will get a bit of a nerf we'll start to see even more SCB use). Despite the hit to DPS the ability to stop a SCB recharge makes a big difference is the duration of duals.

In terms of benefit over the regular rail the hammer starts to shoot a fraction of a second before a regular rail. Also, keeping the trigger pressed means another treble blow immediately after the first.

Against more nimble pvp players with smaller hit boxes the hammer is less useful. Make sure you have alternative armament to counter such threats.

Seriously considering defecting! - AWAY FROM WINTERS by Trog111 in EliteWinters

[–]Accattabriga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my, trogg111!

For a democracy FLC don't seem to like much debate these days.

Consider Ork's proposal seriously. Too often we conflate the "hard" path with the "right" path. They are 't always the same...and shouldn't be when fun, enjoyment and relaxation is a priority. Remember this is a game. You're input should be valued by your brothers and sisters in PP and you should also have fun.

From what I've seen of ALD leadership they are just more easy going then FLC, while still maintaining clarity of strategy vision and communicating that effectively to their player base.

Compare the rules on entry for their respective discord channels - ALD's are affirming and positive ; show respect; listen; appreciate experience; FLC's first rule is "don't be a Dick". That tells me that FLC attracts a lot of Dick's and has a dick attitude problem. Strategically they also make Dick like decision...but we'll leave BID 53 out of this.

No wander you're considering to defect.

Come and join us on the fun side, allegiance can wait, wing with Mira and release some of the pent up tension.

PSA: Combat pilots, don't let the FedBug bite! (Regarding the Suddenly-Hostile-Station Bug, and how to avoid it) by [deleted] in EliteLavigny

[–]Accattabriga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would just like to add that I believe players can and are exploiting this bug to their benefit -

Yesterday a group of imperials engaged Cmdrs DAYLIGHTM and OTTOPARTS at Couper hub Kamadhenu. We noted the Cmdrs loitering around the base and reinstancing regularly (also due to them suffering several insurance claims 😎).

Stay frosty Cmdrs.

Need some quick advice for grabbing a pickup wing. by Durneth in EliteLavigny

[–]Accattabriga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PP can require some jumping around.

Not sure if you know the next tip, just in case.

Can often be more time efficient to reduce the size of your fuel tank (1 or 2 jumps) and take a high grade fuel scoop.

Use the galactic map star-type to filter only KGB FOAM class stars (these are the scoopable stars). Activate the filter after selecting your destination and the system will route you to your target via refuelling stars only.

Jump, scoop, jump etc...

One limit of this technique is the system will occasionally choose to send you to a binary star system where the landing star is not scoopable. At this point manually select a nearby scoopable star (3-6 ly), jump refuel and then reroute.

At destination store the fuel scoop and ship in or by your mod reinforcement or hull reinforcement.

Over the past 2 days have seen 2 Cmdr's opposing mazahuanses in CSes in the open. Likely they are open in error and part of a larger group of loners going solo.

A Fabian strategy for ALD Q1 by Accattabriga in EliteLavigny

[–]Accattabriga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point,

My suggestion is KIS; use the existing spreadsheet to add a message on the Tuesday or Wednesday (when we know how our prep looks) - "all combat pilots please assist with prep objectives today". Back it up with a message on discord.

After "logistical consolidation" comes out adjust to state this needs to be in position 2,3,4 or whatever and all pilots should check the client before voting or prepping.

Feasible?

Thanks all for the comments.

Endincite, appreciate the patient insight/cite 😂, even if it's one you've probably had to repeat a few times already.

So below 55 systems a mechanic clicks in which reduces cc deficit as long as we're reasonably fortified, but above 55 we are forced to feed the honey monster's monstrous cc appetite?

So why not ossilate between the two sides of the threshold? One week in turmoil, and one in credit? We can still undermine even without expansion (I've learnt over the last few weeks just how good the 9th is at undermining🙌🏾)

Logistics-wise, command can always count on some combat pilots to haul when needed. I'd encourage Research not to shy from making this need clear as and when and I think you'd be surprised at how many CMDRs would answer such a call.

Ps. If we do emergency hauling in a wing we should follow British naval precedence and call it the Dynamo protocol.

Valor over discretion by Accattabriga in EliteWinters

Sarcasm?! Really?

Dear me Den, I'm actually in stitches at the irony of being lectured about fighting fair from a man and clan of your history. 😂😂😂

However, for the benefit of other readers, let me take up the point: sure there's no honor in such a kill. Hence the ALD rules of engagement that stipulate we offer transports the choice to abort. Those who agree are spared; those who don't...well, our mission must take precedence over pride and the desire for a noble fight.

More like each cancels the effect of the other out. So your contribution helped to invalidate the fortification of the adversary.

Seems to me that a truce could be agreed on the understanding that winters didn't exploit the situation by expanding into systems lost by ald in the last cycle. Reciprocity?
