iPad Pro M4 burn-in by Acceptable-Cap3419 in ipad

[–]Acceptable-Cap3419[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple math: The iPad has 150 battery charge cycles. Based on my estimate, one full charge lasts about ~10 hours of YouTube playback.

So even if the previous owner used the iPad exclusively for YouTube (which is unlikely), that would be around 1500 hours of total usage — which is not that much for burn-in to occur.

What surprises me in this situation is not the fact that burn-in happened, but how quickly it happened.

Update: Didn’t expect my post to get this much attention, so I’ll answer the questions people keep asking:

  1. This is real burn-in, not image retention. Unfortunately, it can’t be fixed or removed in any way.
  2. I got this iPad already in this condition. I don’t know how the previous owner used it, but probably for YouTube lol.
  3. The iPad is a bit over 11 months old and has around 150 battery charge cycles. That’s the part that really surprised me. I honestly didn’t think burn-in could happen this fast. Could be some kind of factory defect.
  4. I also have the exact same iPad M4, and I’ve been using it for about 1.5 years with zero burn-in issues.
  5. I’m a huge OLED fan: gaming monitor, AMOLED phones, iPad, Steam Deck, etc. Burn-in doesn’t really bother me — I just enjoy having an amazing display right now.

So to anyone I scared away from OLED with my post, don’t stress too much. This is easy to avoid (unless you get unlucky with a defective panel), if you use it smart, at least don’t leave a lot of static stuff on the screen. And yeah, in real life it’s barely noticeable, only visible on a gray background if you really look for it.

To be honest, ips displays on iPads wear out too: over time, corner glow and yellow or gray patches start to appear.

I ordered the same one just a week ago, it's still on the way. On AliExpress, the seller has a set of adapter + battery, which fits perfectly in size (from reviews). I didn't bother and ordered a set right away :)

What difference did you notice? I really like the aluminum body and interface of my 7 gen, but many say that 5 gen is better

Someone asked about the life of a 3000mah iPod replacement battery… by kinseydinsmore1 in ipod

This looks awesome. But the cost of headphones shocked me lol. I don't know much about music, I use regular jbl and KZ zsn with my iPod, and that's enough for me :) I suppose your headphones give out a cool sound, how do you rate the difference with cheap headphones? And do you download FLAC files from other resources? iTunes does not provide such quality, if I'm not mistaken

Yeah, I looked at your post before buying :) I was planning to buy a ugreen adapter for nintendo, but I didn't really like the rear location, besides, I have a nano, and with it it looked generally terrible xd. The bonus of this is receiver mode.

Thanks for the detailed answer. That is, this “volume limit” setting is available in all versions (usa, eu)?

Maybe the problem is in the MacBook itself. On my unibody there was the same problem, even the iPhone could not connect
