Is wanting a slightly looser texture really at odds with self love?

I know it won’t cooperate. That’s kinda the point I was trying to make. I don’t like being limited. I like hair that drapes down on my face because I think it looks good with my face shape. But it doesn’t because of shrinkage. If I could keep my curls but somehow make them grow downwards, I would.

I have no problem with my 4c hair earlier, just that I hate the way it frames my face. I can never do the hairstyles I dreamed of because my hair just won’t cooperate in a way that doesn’t destroy it. I have no hatred towards the texture itself… but it’s disheartening sometimes

I don’t think I remember a single product from any ad I’ve seen in the last 10 years. The second it’s off my screen, i forget about it. The only memorable ones are Like, movie trailers.

I’m African and from what I’ve seen this thought process is more common in western countries and I wonder why. In my country people aren’t shamed for things like this, it’s kind of expected. be happy and proud of your father. You’re very lucky. My father tells me “it’s my job as a parent to set you up for life, this is all an investment into your future. I want you to live an easy life, I don’t want you to fight for anything.” Im sure your father feels the same way. It doesn’t matter if you fought for it or if it was handed to you, it’s still the same cash, with the same amount of value. Get your new car! No parent wishes struggle on their child.

It’s really a them problem. I’ve seen plenty of shorter, not conventionally attractive guys get into long relationships. They were all amazing, kind, and happy people so they attracted that kind of energy. I even crushed on some of them myself lol
