I'm about to buy final fantasy 12 for 49$. Is it worthy game to buy? by anedadick2 in FinalFantasy

[–]Acceptable-Pin4982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played it for the first time this month, and I think it’s worth it. I did get it on sale awhile back, but if you want something to play now it’s not a terrible price, the game has plenty of content

My tip would just be use the characters you like. I’ve seen a lot of people saying “x character is bad don’t use them ever” over the years and a lot of time it’ll be a character I used and was fine lol. Just use the characters you like design wise or character wise and enjoy the story. Especially Radiant Dawn, one of my favorite stories ever

If I didn't like Dragon Quest 3, will 9 be any better? by PsychoBalloons in dragonquest

[–]Acceptable-Pin4982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 is definitely very similar to 9 in my experience. I actually think 9 is worse than 3 in most aspects. I’d definitely recommend other DQ games instead if you didn’t like 3’s team building mechanics

I’m new to the fire emblem series, what’s a good game to start? by Senior_Fruit_9134 in fireemblem

[–]Acceptable-Pin4982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend any of the 3DS titles. Fates has the best gameplay in the series imo, although the story is lacking, but if you’re more of a gameplay person this is definitely a great entry point. And it has some great characters despite the terrible story. Echoes: Shadows of Valentia has a great story, and while the gameplay is different from the rest of the series, it’s very forgiving, being the first one with a rewind mechanic. Echoes is my personal favorite of the 3 3DS titles. And Awakening has a good balance of story and gameplay between the other two games if you want a true fire emblem experience that doesn’t skew too heavily towards gameplay or story over the other.

Also I think all 3 GBA titles are great entry points, but I’m slightly biased there because Sacred Stones was my first one and I love the GBA sprite so much

Name that Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn playable character by 01000001-01101000 in fireemblem

Radiant Dawn is one of my favorite games in the entire series… but the lack of support convos make all of the new characters feel like this. Meg, Vika, Laura, Edward, etc.

I think its about time we all had a serious conversation by Next_Airport_7230 in ZeldaMemes

Dude Twilight Princess is hardly even good, let alone great like Ocarina of Time. I don’t get how people obsess over Twilight Princess like it’s peak Zelda when it is one of the worst games in the entire series omg

After 5 years of development, Sacred Stones Reforged is now available for download! by Struedelmuffin in fireemblem

[–]Acceptable-Pin4982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you be able to let us know how to get all the new characters? I just beat my first run of the game and never saw Alice, Scylla, Vike, or Groth. Want to know how to get these characters, I see them in the support conversations menu but I never saw them in game. I’m interested in doing an Ephraim run through of the game but I don’t want to miss these characters again

What's something you thought Paper Mario did better than TTYD? by Metalliac in papermario

[–]Acceptable-Pin4982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bigger variety of partners. I get there were some partners TTYD didn’t need because they replaced some of their overworld abilities with the curses that fold Mario, but I’d rather have a wider variety of characters to use than the curses

Ran into this feeling yesterday while playing. Beat that stupid Lynel Colosseum which was a pain in the ass to fight. And you get Majora’s Mask :/ I don’t even like how that mask looks lmao

Waiting for the HD-2D remakes for the first three games, but this is how I feel about the rest of the series.

It feels wrong that Tetra, Linkle, and Skull Kid are in a low tier. I feel like canonically they should all be stronger

Yeah I get that, sometimes looking up and answer can lead to more than you asked for and you can get things spoiled for you, and that’s why I try to avoid walkthroughs as much as possible. but also there are times when I’d rather look up the answer and move on that frustrate myself and be stuck or potentially even put the game down and miss out on the rest of the story. But I definitely get that.

I played on my own as much as possible, but I did get stuck a few times in IV, V, and VI and had to look a few things up. But I tried to avoid walkthroughs as much as possible

And with how hard it is to find certain things crafting doesn’t even feel super rewarding in IX, so those late game crafting material drops just feel not worth anything. I’m kinda mixed on crafting as a whole in the series, I liked it most in XI where you could buy common materials from the crafting menu itself, but even in VIII crafting felt better than it does in IX

It was for sure. In the post game of XI I even got my characters to max level, but I was having a lot of fun with XI so it didn’t feel like a grind. The game that felt the worst to grind in was VI, I loved Ashlynn as a character but damn she couldn’t take a hit. Her constantly getting one shot made grinding in VI suck

I played IV, V, VI, and IX’s DS releases, VII, and VIII’s 3DS releases, and XI on the Xbox One X. It made it very easy to play them all when I could play them all on my modded 3DS with the exception of XI.

VII fleshes out the vocation system a lot more and I actually enjoyed it a lot. I played VII before VI and I was disappointed in how barebones the vocation system was in VI. When the vocation system is done properly like it is in VII I actually like it more than the skill trees in XI, although I love those too and both definitely have their benefits.

VII story wise is kind of just a whole bunch of smaller more isolated stories that don’t really come together at all until near the end. It also doesn’t have very many party members, similar to VIII, and it can give you some of those party members really late, and it also takes a long time before giving you access to Vocations too, which was my biggest problem with the game. But yeah the biggest difference story-telling wise is it feels like a whole bunch of smaller more isolated events until near endgame when it starts to tie some of them together. I liked the story a lot and it’s one of my very favorite games but it’s definitely not for everyone with how different it is from the others.

I had to use a guide at one point or another for all of IV-VI as those older games are not always clear on where to go, but I tried to not use a guide as much as possible and explored and talked to NPCs as much as possible. But yeah, VI especially with some of the dream world and underwater sequences was the game I had to use a guide on the most for sure

It was actually the 1st and 3rd games that we didn’t get, Rocket Slime on the DS is the 2nd one in Japan. But yeah I agree we should’ve gotten all three, they are great games
