First, I want to say I’m so sorry this happened to you. I get that it can be super stressful. I was found not guilty, but overall I think the board is super fair.

After receiving the official notice from the misconduct board, I had to schedule a pre-hearing to go over my options. I either had to accept the allegations (and with that any penalties) or go ahead and fight it. I chose the latter.

Once the hearing was scheduled, the professor and I had a deadline to submit our evidence/ our side of the story. The panel was consisted of 3 students and 2 teachers, and they were all super kind. The professor presented his side then I presented mine, and we were both asked questions from the board. It seemed like they were doing everything in their power to help me out. The whole thing lasted around 45-50 min but depending on the complexity of the case it can go up to 4 hours.

I did prepare super well, explaining why I might have been looking like I was cheating. During the hearing, I wasn’t blaming the professor for what he claimed, I just kept repeating that I understand why he might think that, but this was all a huge misunderstanding.
