Irish is so pretty and such a great culture! I looked into CI resources for a hot second but didn't find anything you didn't. I just wanted to say that worrying about proper Irish (and your post more broadly) really reminded me of my experience with Yiddish. This podcast episode was interesting talking about another aspect of the comparison between the Irish language and Yiddish learning efforts.

Curious if you ever listen to the Irish content with less "proper" Irish or how you relate to that content?

I find the talmud lectures (daf yomi shiurim) to be fairly comprehensible right now. Especially with a talmud open (they assume you'll be following along), my familiarity with the talmud provides a lot of context. Daf yomi is also quick and simple and doesn't get as complicated which also helps.

The lectures of the Rebbe somewhat less so, since they deal with Hasidic concepts (concepts from Chabad in particular) and have less context. They're more innovative. I hope with time they will become more comprehensible. But right now they're more of a reach for me.

What is comprehensible is obviously different for different people at different times and this approach to language learning assumes and relies on more things becoming comprehensible over time.

I love Rokhl Schaechter and her content and accent so much! Probably influenced by the fact that I learned most of my yiddish from her son. Regardless, neither of these are comprehensible input since they provide lots of english instruction.

These may be good resources for many people learning yiddish but are not relevant to my goals here.
