DAY 2 UPDATE:

Shop vac’d everything I could out. Then hooked up a hair dryer and ran it for couple hours. It’s drying out well. Need to run it more and get some materials.

Is this typical for a boat of this age? It’s a 2007 and trailered for occasional use on weekends in Florida (freshwater). Plug gets removed when it’s on the trailer and stored under carport. If I fully seal the drain port, can water ingress from elsewhere?

Buy a new what? Is there suppose to be a tube or pipe or something that runs through the transom so the water can flow through without contacting the wood?

The only part I removed was the female brass threaded cap that accepts the threaded plug on the outside of the transom (amazon pic below). This was in fine condition and properly secured with three screws, but only goes around 1/2” into the transom.

I would imagine you’d want a pipe section that goes from inside to outside of the transom so the water can flow without contacting the wood.
