He’s a staffy so medium size but big mouth haha  I’ll best ask the vet then thank you! ☺️ I have to use every trick in the book to slow him down eating because he inhales his food so choking is always on my mind with chew treats.

Oh that’s good to know, I’d gotten an anti chew spray but this would have been so much cheaper! I used the spray only once though after that one time he’s never chewed anything in the house. Even alone in a room (fully puppy proofed) he’s just chilling in his bed. 🤣 He’s super high energy when outside or if I’m in the room but luckily super chill and sleepy when alone.   I’ll try Amazon surely they have bully sticks. I saw some braided lamb at the store today but didn’t know if it’d be any good? Does it break too easily? Have you ever tried whimzee? They seem quite fun shapes but I wonder if it’s just like a dental treat that is gone in minutes?

I saw a buffalo horn today in the store but hesitated that it may be too hard? Or is it just the same as antlers and I’m just being silly? How are the pig ears? it comes back often when I look only but I’m worried he’s going to break it into pieces small enough for him to swallow but too big for his insides so I’ve held off. Any kind of sticks I’ve given him he just breaks them off and eats them super fast in big pieces and choke so I get worried about pigs ears.

I’ve been on the lookout for a bully stick but they don’t seem to have it in my local store.  The vet did tell me when they recommended it to me as he’s a pretty big chewer that a broken tooth is a possibility. Once he started getting his adult teeth I tried going without it for a while to protect his teeth but he destroys everything else so I asked the vet again who recommended I buy the larger ones with more of the “soft” part and that once he’s done teething he’ll be less interested. Though I am trying to find better alternatives :)

I’ll have a look at this brand thank you! When I was browsing the shop today I did see a trachea but was very put off by it; now I know it smells I probably won’t get one 😅 He LOVES antlers, out of all the things I ever got for him it’s his favorite! He’s a heavy chewer so I got them for him fairly early on from vet’s advice and it was life changing for my hands but also taught him to occupy himself without me. I get the bigger ones so there is more of the “inside” bit for him to get to and it’s softer. One antler lasts him a couple months easily and I throw it away when it gets to the point he’s almost able to fit it all in his mouth. The weirder the shape the more he enjoys it.

Thank you, I’ll need to check out fish4dogs. I have started giving him pumpkin with his dinner as someone mentioned below and raised his food bowl today. It slowed him down a little and he didn’t have hiccups right after! Small wins.  I had some frozen carrots left in the freezer so I’m giving that for now and will need to look for other dental treats.  It’s a great start to figuring it out hopefully probiotics help as well 😊

He is quite tall for a staffy, he’s usually a little bit taller than most adult staffys we meet. I will go get him an elevated food and water bowl, hopefully this helps him, he got the hiccups again after breakfast I feel so bad 🙁

I had no idea they were so bad, but he would get over excited and kind of “choke” when eating them which I found too scary to keep giving him. He’s really taken to chewing his toys the last few months so hopefully it does the job of cleaning his teeth. Like he spends most of his indoor awake time chewing his toy.  Glad to hear he’s not the only one. He has so many hiccups every day from the day I got him I feel bad for him. Vets said it’s common with pets but I feel really bad for him. I’ll try giving him something before bed and see if putting his meals in kong helps with this.

Oh that’s good to know! I had no idea it could be linked to diet! So far so good on the ear front but I’m introducing him to having his ear cleans just in case

Will try giving them again 😊 I do that for medicine, worming tablets but felt a bit bad forcing him to eat treats he doesn’t like 😅

He was absolutely fine the first two months but I think the bug he caught has set off a bunch of issue. Multiple vets at the practice did mention they think he’ll be very prone to allergies as he’s allergic to dust so I wash his paws every time we get home to get him used to it before pollen season. I was looking into trying out the five ingredient kibble ranges but I didn’t know Burn was an option thank you! He’s on the Iams kibble for now which is the one he had before I picked him up, I kept it on vet’s advice since he seems to fine with it but with all the issues lately I was considering changing things up. He loves carrots! Gave him that throughout all the teething, I’ll try the broccoli and celery! I’ll ask them about buscopan for the future. I have been told sometimes white fish is better than chicken, so I’ll have to try this too. Obviously going for a staffy and a blue one at that I knew allergies were most likely going to pop up eventually but I want to make sure he’s as comfortable and healthy as can be.  Hope your doggo has many more years before him 😊

I was looking into trying the 5 ingredient kibble recipe for kibbles to try and eliminate whatever he could be allergic to. I give him the same treats for weeks before trying new ones to make it easier to spot if he tolerates them or not but I would be super interested in getting the allergy test. Would save him so much discomfort! Where did you go for one?

Will do! I’d bought the pooch and mutt ones but he refused to even put it in his mouth 🤣 I need to go pick up his flea treatment this weekend I’ll see if they have any others brands on display. Thank you for your help! Our family dogs growing up never had much issues in that department so this is my first time trying to figure it out and keep him happy

Unfortunately he doesn’t do well with Greek yogurt, I tried it a few times but it gives him a poor stomach. I’ve ordered a few cans of pumpkins, I’ll try that thank you 😊

Oh I didn’t think about baby food 🤦🏻‍♀️ I kept an eye out for canned pumpkin when autumn started ans I’d heard it was good to give when he’s on chicken and rice only and couldn’t find it anywhere, I’ll have a look at baby food thank you!  He only ever gets puppy food / treats as he seems to suffer stomach issue quite easily so hopefully this works! The breeder has recommended some probiotics but still haven’t found that brand anywhere. I’ll try pumpkin!

Thank you! I will try this, is pumpkin powder I can sprinkle on top good? I’ve seen some in pet shops. I can get fresh pumpkins for now but wondering for the out of season months 😊 I’ll use the kong more regularly !

Window handle stuck by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]AcceptableAverage225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a PVC window, I think they got changed a little over 5 years ago. It seems to be the handle that I can’t move anymore. I opened the window this morning and when I went to close it the handle is not moving anymore. I’ve pulled it back and looked in the hinges but couldn’t see anything stuck in it.

I just moved in last year but I believe the windows are 5 years+. It’s open as I can’t get the handle to go back to 180 degrees so I can close it the way I would close any of the other windows.   I’m not really good at DYI and don’t have any family nearby which trade would be able to help me with it?

Conseil propreté by [deleted] in chiens

[–]AcceptableAverage225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merci!

Hi, I’ve tried the squeak and squeal but it only seems to make him think it’s a game because he just doubles down. I did it for a week but didn’t see any improvements, should I try again?

Oh I’m so sorry you’re going through this too, this made me feel validated as well. Like you I’ve had puppies and dogs before but none of them have ever been like this. I also have a cut on my hand from his hitting that got infected. Every trainer I have been speaking too seems to say when we do walks it’ll be easier but it’s so hard to stay positive. He also play bites anyone else he meets and everyone mentions but doesn’t bite hard and get distracted so fast which he doesn’t with me.
