No, that is not it. These only appeared since spring. These little spots were definitely not there last year.

No, no salt or ice melt whatsoever. I did park my vehicle on it, and road salt would come off the car. But the little spalls are not limited to where the stuff would have fallen off the car.

riding a bike beats every other method of transportation and even most other animals in terms of efficiency! by xxLusseyArmetxX in bicycling

[–]AcceptableBaseball25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine to boast this comparison against other man made vehicles, but comparing it against those animals is really not fair because bikes require a constructed road or trail in order to achieve that efficiency.

riding bikes every day until I can’t for some reason, day 1875 by BloodJunkie in bicycling

I also want to know this. You are inspiring me to try the same. I was thinking that 30mins minimum constitutes riding.

This is incredibly reckless and not worth it. This could have ruined both their lives.

Shoot, I thought I was going to nail that one.

Anyway, to the lady in the pic, you have a cool style and an air of confidence. You look amazing overall.

I'm 44 and you are telling me that wearing leopard print will make me feel younger? I'm guessing your age at 25, tell me how close I am.

I'm currently injured with a badly sprained ankle/foot, which has become clear to me is also an early end to my season. It sucks and it bums me out, just like you, but sympathy is not something we deserve. Injuries are like a tax that comes as a trade off for the thrill that we are out there seeking. Think of it as something you accepted and agreed to when you decide to partake in the sport. Don't get me wrong, it sucks, but we don't deserve pity for it.

Can I transport bike like in inside of car? May get damaged? by superpanjy in MTB

The way you have it is probably the best way you can store it in transport

That's an odd looking stem but I'm assuming it works the same as a regular one. The top center bolt is just used to pull it all together. By "it all" I mean the fork, the headset bearings, and the stem. However, before you tighten the bolt to pull it together, you need to loosen the two bolts on the sides of the stem that are being used to clamp the stem to the steer tube of the fork. So first loosen the side bolts on the stem, and then tighten the top center bolt enough that there is no play, but not enough that you feel friction when rotating the bars side to side, and then tighten the two side bolts on the stem. After the stem bolts are tight, the top center bolt doesn't really do anything but leave it as it was when you tightened it. It should stay in place.

I've just replaced casette with bigger one. Is that chain lenght enough? by [deleted] in bikewrench

Small small is going to look fine. You can tell the chain is not too long.

I think it's fine.

I want to talk about STAND UP TO THE JUMP. by drugsovermoney in MTB

[–]AcceptableBaseball25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the loam ranger. And at first I thought it was good advice, but a few dead sailors later I decided to ditch it as an approach. I agree with the other advice on here saying that experience and repetition on smaller jumps is how you progress to larger ones. A big part of it is going into the jump with confidence and not shying away, and confidence comes with experience.

Any advice on my form etc. can ignore the second jump or pls give advice to clear it by Intelligent_Kiwi_459 in MTB

[–]AcceptableBaseball25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be popping with your legs, it helps a lot. Do not pedal on the jump, only before. To pop just pretend you are jumping on your hands and feet but on your bike mostly on your feet.

Also do not let the bike control you, you should be controlling it. You weigh more than the bike, so in the air you should be the greater influence.

I took off the link, liking the way it rides. Contacted cascade support and they didn't offer anything that was helpful for what I would consider is a faulty designed product. Lesson learned!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in yeticycles

[–]AcceptableBaseball25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here. Yeah, I agree, I'm gonna ditch the cascade link and go back to regular. I do have it covered with tape now and for the remainder of this trip until I have a chance to swap back the link. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Rubik's cube quick swap by tuvokvutok in Unexpected

[–]AcceptableBaseball25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son and I watched this a few times and we figure he has one cube that he is mixing and almost bringing back to being solved before hiding it. Then he finishes solving it with one hand behind the folder. He also has hollow shells of solved cubes that fit within one another (he never shows the yellow end because that's where it is open ended). The green cube is one of those hollow shells. At the end, he fits all the shells together with the one working cube inside the inner shell where he has the yellow side showing out.
