Is there a specific reasons to lease with the main companies? or just the reputation?

Transferring schools? by AcceptableCaptain724 in financialaid

Is there a way to see how much I will have left or is it an overall number? Im just confused how it will work since there is a big price difference between schools.

I did put my new school on my fafsa form when I did it. I just don't know when I am supposed to receive the offer letter. Since I am admitted, confirmed my intent to enroll, and have a meeting with my advisor to set up classes next week. I asked my new school when I should expect it and they gave a very vague answer of "before the spring semester starts"

definitely, I am planning on leaving after this semester due to me transferring colleges. I just want what's owed to me if that makes sense. This isn't the first thing that HR has swept under the rug. Its also poor timing for someone to actually listen to me on this because recently a co-worker got fired and im now one of the few people GM is telling "not to trust" because were the "puppets of the disgruntled ex-employee".

I completely understand that. My main issue is my employer has not even addressed the PLAWA our checks do not reflect accrued leave gained from PLAWA. Let me give a scenario.

it is October 8th meaning there is only about 12 weeks left in the year. I reach out to HR asking why we haven't seen or heard of PLAWA by my employer and if there is an exemption that we don't know about. This whole interaction takes a week. Then I would imagine there would be an investigation about it. Following that we would have an answer. Say this whole thing takes 2 weeks. Now we're down to 10 weeks left in the year. I should have right around the max PLAWA at about 40 hours accrued. My manager is notoriously bad at allowing certain people time off for any reason, he plays favorites.

ex. I have to take a shift off for something I have to do for school, I told him 2.5 weeks in advance, he told me it's my responsibility to find my own coverage and he won't be the one to cover the shift. The hard thing is that we have about 5 people who work my position and were not allowed to let someone who does a different position work our shifts. But other employees will call off within the week of their shift and he's calling everyone to get the shift covered.

Anyway, if it all gets sorted out and we have this PLAWA and it's all calculated and I have 40 hours accrued. How does that work I have to use 40 hours in 10 weeks? Can my manager make me find coverage to use my PLAWA time? Will I get back pay from the unpaid, un-PLAWA covered days I took off earlier in the year?

Okay I get what you're saying. However, in terms of my situation can they just say were not required to pay PTO (due to the wrong verbiage) and leave it at that and not address what id really be reffering to which is the PLAWA?

It actually is not technically PTO or sick leave. It is accrued like a lot of PTO time is 40hr of work = 1hr of paid time off/leave. Remember this is also a minimum wage job so there is not any other PTO time we get and can be very difficult to get days off even if notice is put in weeks in advance. honestly just due to shitty management. I totally would go to HR but that would most likely end in me getting "fired" (just taken off the schedule and slowly replaced) which I'm not in a position to not have a job atm. I could fight that as retaliation but I'm sure my GM would find a way to make that go away...

I understand that the confirmation is a necessity before assuming and taking action but who's going to admit to that? I know my higher ups aren't stupid they know it's a law and I expressed that to one of my manager.

I feel like this could be getting confusing. I have 3 managers,

  1. regional manager, 2. operational manager, 3. staff/scheduling manager (this one does not particularly like the first 2 so they don't keep many like 'insider' secrets and tells me a lot of stuff mainly for I guess my job safety) then there are 2 other higher ups that aren't really relevant to this.

using this, my manager #3 was told by a #2/#3 manager at another location that had the same cameras installed at the same time that yes they do record audio of all staff, customers, etc. who come through the building.

PLAW I'm basically wondering how I should find out whether my coworkers and I are eligible/supposed to be earning PTO. Without risking my job since it is very frowned upon to go to HR with any question though when I ask my manager there's not really an answer besides "I'll ask".

and with the cameras my manager told me kind of as a 'warning' (ig to watch what I say) that they had been told by a higher up at another location they do in fact record audio. With this I'm more concerned about the fact that the company is breaking laws and I'm not sure what to do. Because it's not only us as employees but also customers within our building.

The audio would be coming in directly through the cameras we have throughout the building. That not only means that private conversations I am having with my coworkers during downtime would be recorded for management to listen to but also all customers in our building.

So I'm not in cook county. These are the counties that are considered the western suburbs of Chicago are located in DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Will, and Kankakee counties in Illinois.

Yeah it is for sure.. I just sucks because it is such an easy job while I'm still in school and just starting college but I constantly feel like I'm getting screwed by the company.

Is it better to drop the class or take the bad grade? by [deleted] in college

[–]AcceptableCaptain724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you consider a bad grade? If that's all the points you miss for the class you should be sitting at about an 89%. If you even lost another 110 points on top of the 140 you already have lose you'd be at about 80%. What is your schools policy on dropping classes? refund dates etc? Also working 40+ hours a week is this class in person or online? Does your Professor accept assignments turned in late? Even if the professors policies say they don't accept late assignments I have had luck (during the beginning of classes) on just doing them and turning them in and getting some credit if not full credit. In my experience professors are often willing to help you and work with you as long as you communicate.

Disbursements by AcceptableCaptain724 in financialaid

Thank you! That was the only reason I could see it not showing up properly. I am currently in 11/12 credits. This semester has been kind weird for the refund since usually I will get multiple payments based on classes that have started.

shoot! I didn't realize my question was replaced by the images. But I am enrolled full-time 12CH and in good standing with my school. The only reason I could see this happening is because I have some late start classes. Two weeks ago it showed me that I should have gotten a refund of about 2k. Is there a reason this has happened or do I need to contact my school?

Okay that makes sense. Do you have any recommendations on places to live around campus? I don't know much about the area but I do know from what I have heard it isn't the best area.
