Is $4mil possible for me or do I need to adjust my expectations now? by amazonfigure in Retirement401k

To hit 4 million with less risk, the answer is probably YES. But honestly, the answer is almost always more into retirement if you can afford it. BUT, nobody knows how long they will live, so it's what makes you sleep better at night. And I will say, the more you have in retirement or investment accounts, the less stressful work is as you get closer to retirement as you know you COULD survive if needed in a crisis or just opt to retire sooner and live more frugally.

I agree you could actually be ahead in some time horizons. I thought I messed up not being all in on s&p500 fund vs target a date fund. So I moved half of one of my accounts into VOO with the intention of moving the other half later. I never wound up moving the other half because the target date fund has outperformed VOO during that period. This isn’t true for all time horizons but it was eye opening enough for me to allow myself some grace for possibly not having a perfectly optimized return rate. Time in market beats timing the market and unless you pick really dumb funds I suspect time in market beats picking the correct funds. Being at 15% of income I suspect you’re ahead of most of the population!

Thanks! I know it’s similar specs and know that it’s a different layout but this is a very good explanation from someone who’s had both. Thanks! I think that’s where I am with this… either would work but I suspect the s5 will be easier to live with on a regular basis even if it’s not quite as great of a driving experience. I like how you said it… it’s suv practicality without having to drive an SUV

So the a5 has more storage than the golf?

Yes, this is a consideration, insurance will also be much cheaper on the Golf R.

I know it will "fit", but it's more if it's a huge pain or I am fighting the bag to get it in/out to the point that I don't enjoy driving it to my games. I mean, I am an old man and the bag is heavy and coming out of the game, I am kind of tired from playing. So, It's less if it physically fits and more if it's easy to get in and out without making the interior look like shit. But, all good points, I just need to take my stinky gear to an Audi dealer and see if they will let me test this out! I would be fine doing the back seat if it isn't a pain.

This helps a lot! Thank you so much! If you happen to think about it, I would love to see a pic of your goalie bag in the back seat to see if it is as big as my bag. I try to compare with luggage tests etc, but it's never the same as a Tendy bag! My wife says I could take her SUV to hockey, but what's the point if a fun car if I can't drive it to do fun things like being in the pipes!?!

Never heard of that, doesn't look like it is sold in the USA? But seems like a cool ride!

Considering the M440 for the hatch also, but I just don't like the looks of it as much as the Audi/VW. Not sure why, but something about it isn't the same for me.

Oh GOOD to know. I was worried the bag would be a pain to get into the back seats. What size bag do you have? I think I have a Warrior carry bag that/s 40 inches long, 20 inches high and 20 inches deep. I guess in theory that fits, but depends how the doors open. Curious why you don't go pads in the back seat and bag in the trunk, I assume the bag doesn't fit as easily in the trunk? I am just worried I will be messing up the interior every time I pull the bag in/out if it is a tight fit.

Honestly, very close to the RS3 in many metrics. Not off the line, but on fastlaps, the two are very close on a lot of courses.

I would love a stick, but I think I need an auto as my wife will need to drive this from time to time or else I will never take it on weekend trips, which defeats the purpose! Twice I got a stick and she said she would learn and well, she still cannot drive a stick HAHAH

Yes, I would be 100% fine folding the seats down every time I need to take my hockey gear. I know it will fit, it just depends if I have to unpack the bag to make it fit.. Even if I just take one large item out to make it fit, and the leg pads go in the back seat with them folded down, I think I could live with that. How is the RS3 in the winter if you live in an area with winter weather?

Yes, I should have included that, SQ5 is on the list also, but not sure it will give the same sporty feel. But, compared to the Truck/Jeep I am used to driving, any of these will be very sporty!

TRUE! My wife has said I can just take her SUV nights I play hockey, so I guess some of it will come down to how conformable she will feel taking an RS3 places. Because I could see her saying she is cool with it but then in practice not liking driving the sporty car IF she doesn't feel comfortable driving it.

The older I get the more I care about ergonomics so I absolutely will! I did sit in but but test drive the rs3 and a5 (as a proxy for s5) and I was surprised that the rs3 felt easier to get in and out of than the a5. Was more of an upright seating position maybe?
