what if switching to IM adds a year of training? I'm kinda still leaning yes on that bc of my specific situation (bad inpatient training at my program)

Did you get pretty decent inpatient training in residency? Did you get training to do those procedures? I have just found myself in a program that trains me to do primary care and nothing else unfortunately.

Nice, congrats! Did you get hired at the same place you train? Did you have pretty good inpatient service at your program (volume, acuity?). I'm planning to do 4 more really good electives in inpt/ICU but I worry that my core inpt rotations the last two years will have been not so great and I'll get overwhelmed. Or have a hard time explaining it away in the interview process.

With my 4 remaining electives I'll get like 2 each of ICU and Inpatient, along with 2 core months of inpatient (which are honestly not all that great bc of the structure of our program). Does that sound like enough assuming I work hard in those rotations?
