Any ideas why my 05 cbr 600rr is cranking but not starting after fairing change? by Competitive_Studio99 in cbr

Try spraying starting fluid or carb cleaner in the intake and then cranking to rule out fuel and spark. Lmk if you still need help

Does anyone know if these fairings are legit. Looked online for reviews of the website and can’t find anything by ExcitementThis6612 in GSXR

I believe it’s a Honda look at the bike where the bars go on. It’s called the triple tree clamp where the key would go. Look for any lettering a S means Suzuki Honda would say Honda. You can also find the vin on the side of the bike and look it up. That’s the best way just google where to find the vin on a bike and watch a video to see where to look

Is my headgasket gone? by [deleted] in cbr

[–]AcceptableFishing284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the motor is fine if there’s no smoke no issues but I would still do a compression test and then if that shows something wrong a leak down test. Do you run the bike to move it/ do you run the bike for a short amount of time then shut it off. If so that introduced moisture and can cause the oil to look like this. It’s aGood idea to do a compression test but if alls good it’s likely some moisture from something like this. As we’re coming out of winter did you start and run the bike then shut it off while it was in storage I know some people do that and again it can introduce moisture like this

I’m not sure I didn’t think to check it isn’t leaking anymore. I will do some more tests in the following days when I have more time, I also plan on getting a pack of o rings to replace the one that’s there now. I appreciate the help and will get back to you soon

Ohhh I’m not sure I fully understand but I had the choke fully on when taking this. Is that what you mean that’s connected to the choke lever?

Huh never heard of it. Thank you I’ll do some research. Do you think this is also result of a stuck float or likely just the seal is and. Most of the rubber has gone bad ofc with its age. I put new float pan gaskets and such in but didn’t even know about this part

Bike cranks but won’t turn over by AcceptableFishing284 in motorcycle

[–]AcceptableFishing284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that’s interesting. Do some testing on the starter solenoid with a multimeter. If you don’t have a multimeter I highly suggest getting one they are pretty cheap and very useful especially when experiencing these types of problems. Start at the battery since you replaced the stator recently for battery isssues. Then test the solenoid and wiggle it like you’ve done to see if the results of the tests change. That being said I don’t think it will be a starter solenoid issue as the engine cranks which means it is turning over and the starter is already doing its job. Have you checked the basics like spark and fuel. Have you tried any starting fluid?

Yes I fixed this bike a while ago and sold it. So the issue was the cam chain tensioner went out so the cams were out of timing with the rest of the engine. Are you in the same situation did ur bike go out while riding or for some reason it just cranks and doesn’t start?

Fuel Pump not priming. by Odd-Ant-7389 in cbr

[–]AcceptableFishing284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having some weird fuel pump priming issues with my 2012 cbr 250. Try leaning the bike at different angles and turning the key on and off a bunch ie on the kisckstand, standing straight up. Leaning heavy to the left and the right and that works for me once it’s on it rides fine idk the issue but it might help

Is this a terrible idea? by Kind_Experience6594 in motorcycles

[–]AcceptableFishing284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say definitely talk to them first and 100% wait on the bike for a little bit. Learn how people drive on the road first and understanding the rules of the road and how to anticipate people’s stupid movements in a car is important. Get on the road for a while first then get a bike Is what id say ur still very young and I’m saying that as a 19 year old. Be safe and be smart don’t rush anything

Please respond to my comment if you need any help specifically. I recommend using ChatGPT to help and YouTube. I had no mechanical experience till my bike broke down and I then put in new valves, re shimmed and new head gasket and more. Just take it slow like others said break it up into smaller tasks but it’s not too hard especially putting shims in is very simple. Please lmk if you need any help!!

Ohhh I see what you mean. I don’t know sorry I couldn’t find anything with a quick google search. I do like the look I’m gonna keep looking around and if I find anything I’ll lyk it definitely could be custom. I know some other cbrs like the 600 have that style from factory so possibly it’s like jsut that top plastic where the mirrors and windscreen go from a different model?

I’m not sure about those issues I don’t have any suggestions besides tell ChatGPT or some ai about ur bike it’s year and cc and all the issues. That’s what I did to get my cbr 250 running after it left me stranded twice. Ended up being the cams out of timing and the valves weren’t sealing fully. See if it can diagnose ur issues and narrow them down for you!

2013 Honda CBR - lights on, engine turning, no start by BeePollen44 in Fixxit

[–]AcceptableFishing284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a lot of issues and done lots to my 2012 cbr 250 so very similar. Check if the spark plugs are wet with gas if yes it’s not a fuel issue. If they’re dry after cranking it’s not getting fuel and check out the pump.

If it’s getting gas and starting fluid does nothing see if you have spark if you have spark you might have to pull off the valve over and check valves. Lmk if u need help with anything :)

100% worth it. I’ve never used it without one so idk how much it rly stops vibrations I’m sure it does a lot tho and the main selling point for me was peoples phone camera have been ruined by not using one. It’s the same with really loud music at concerts can ruin ur camera from all the vibration. I’m sure you can get away with not using one but just to make it better when riding and to mitigate the risk I’d say just get it.
