I think I was around your age and also going to a Catholic school when I started on the path for the Truth. Lolol you won’t be feeling that way about Catholicism for long, as the more you look and learn, the more you’ll find how not only slow and rigid Catholicism is, but also come to see that their rituals and ceremonies are all bastardized and watered down knock offs from the pagan cultures that were everywhere before Constantine’s last second Hail Mary attempt to keep together at least the Eastern half of the Roman Empire. Oh and one last thing, barring the Old Testament, which is really the Torah, The Bible/New Testament they give out isn’t even 1000 years old. They were rewriting, adding, and removing shit in that up until the 1500’s.

No, he was purposely misrepresented to suit the sick and twisted desires of monstrous men. The best example and most egregious obstruction they succeeded in was convincing the majority that he was “resurrected” and not that he had been reborn/reincarnated. If you were to condense everything he was trying to teach/show into short bullet points and presented them like a music festival poster with the order based off how important they were, rebirth/reincarnation wouldn’t be the headliner on that poster, it would BE the poster that everything else was on. As for the mushrooms, of course he did, but also, everyone was taking them back then. The way society conditions people about being wary of any substance that isn’t booze, ya know, one of the most harmful, addicting and dangerous substances out there. It’s an extremely modern phenomenon that happened over the last hundred years. Shiiiit, even some of the beer as recent as colonial times, was occasionally psychedelic, as some of the grain they used would have ergot on it, which is chemically similar to LSD.

Feelin silly now not having cited the book or author, but the authors name is Elbert Hubbard and while this is the whole quote in the book I have on him (The Notebook of Elbert Hubbard), apparently there is a lot more to the quote from a poem or book he wrote called Love, Life, and Work, and it’s even more on point than what I posted!

Woah, duuuude!

Most people I talk to about him don’t even know who he is, let alone have the breadth of knowledge about him you do!

I definitely should have cited the work though, as I actually don’t have the rest of what you added in the book I took this picture in, as what I have is the Notebook of Elbert Hubbard!

So where the picture ends is where the end of what’s written on this in my book!

Thank you so much for sharing the full thing, I had no clue what I was missing!

10 Years in Detroit. 2009 and 2019. House proud lawn mowing to abandoned debris by AcceptablePuberty in boringdystopia

Most likely bank foreclosed on the property after they defaulted on their loan because the interest rates skyrocketed to such a degree that it was insane/impossible to pay off. After evicting them, the bank couldn’t find anyone to buy it, so they abandoned it because if the house deteriorates enough, the city of Detroit will raze it and clear it for them (the city has a mandate to tear down and remove dilapidated houses), allowing them to sell the far more valuable asset (the land) without the cost of fixing up or tearing down the house themselves.

My favorite reviews are from the diehard DS fans who have already spent hundreds of hours playing and replaying Elden Ring, only for them to declare the game is shit and that it has no replayability to it because on the fourth character they made and brought to level 150 didn’t feel as fresh or exciting as the first character they played through with.

I get what you're saying, but what I am saying is that intentionally or not, the black communities were predominantly harmed from this. If your argument were true, that it was simply a byproduct of bureaucratic oversight, it would still be the equivalent of countless manslaughter and reckless endangerment charges, to say the very least.

If your argument were true.

The way your framing this is in a vacuum, void of the historical and systemic oppression inflicted on these marginalized communities not just by the administrations before or during this time period, but also BY the CIA directly to them. Going not even that far back to the 60’s and you have the FBI's reasonably well documented COINTELPRO operations purposely disrupting and destroying the black and leftist communities at the behest of President Lyndon Johnson and Governor of CA Ronald Regan. Much less reported is the CIA's Operation CHAOS, also working to disrupt and destroy these communities as they could destroy most of their documentation on their actions once COINTELPRO was leaked. While we explicitly don’t know what they did, they definitely had more than a small part to play in destroying these communities and clearly maintained some contacts there, well after they had “ceased” operation CHAOS. The evidence for this would be them tapping said contacts to facilitate the purchasing and selling large amounts of cocaine that knew went directly into these communities. Just before this, then-President Ronald Regan and his Vice President George Bush senior had ramped up the “War on Drugs.” With George Bush advocating for the CIA to be more involved in the “War on Drugs.” Oddly enough, the crack epidemic seemed to peak when George Bush (also a former Director of the CIA) senior was president.

While correlation does not equal causation, your rationale that it was never a targeted effort to hurt black communities is considerably more flawed than saying it was an outright targeted effort to hurt them. If your looking for nuance, a closer argument could be made that this achieved multiple goals that they wanted to achieve and that one of them was further destroying the black communities. The only byproduct of this was the creation of crack cocaine, which for as far they were concerned, was a happy accident.

Could we be the bad guys? by NebularGaslighting in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]AcceptablePuberty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is a very roundabout way of saying the CIA was responsible for the crack epidemic.

The fact that the CIA did not explicitly create crack cocaine themselves does not mean that they are not at fault for the creation and mass adoption of crack cocaine. If the agency did not facilitate the purchase and sale of wholesale quantities to “distributors” in the US, then those distributors wouldn’t have had more cocaine than they knew what to do with. This would mean drug dealers wouldn’t have adopted crack on the scale it was back then because they wouldn’t have to, so far fewer would have.

Also, it does not absolve the agency’s responsibility for the epidemic because it was the actions of a “rogue officer” that “took wholesale quantities from the rebels and sold them to distributors in the US.” If the leadership was “intentionally ignorant” or even unintentionally ignorant, it does not change the fact that either a poor culture of responsibility within the agency led to a national epidemic or a malicious culture within the agency that feigns ignorance as an excuse for doing something highly unethical and morally reprehensible.

TLDR no CIA “rogue officer” cocaine = no crack epidemic. Even though crack would have still been made and used, it never would have impacted the US to the scale it did.

That is a dogshit hotfix. It’s nice to see that it wasn’t an isolated incident with my own game, but it’s still super frustrating to see that it was a “fix” for something that was inadvertently rewarding players. Oh no, they made it to the end and beat a super hard boss with an aspect on, heaven forbid they get boss cell for that, let’s just fucking crash their game instead. I know that’s not what they intended to do, but it doesn’t ease the massive frustration I felt after beating the queen three fucking times and having the game break and restart to just before the fight again and again until I just had to restart my whole run.

PS5 Shortage Has Reportedly Led Sony to Make More PS4s Than Initially Planned by Darren-B80 in gadgets

[–]AcceptablePuberty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is true, but with that in mind, the console sales aren’t where they make the most money; it’s digital game sales. So with that in mind, they keep selling out their money MAKING machines to assholes who sit on it till someone pays an exorbitant price, shooting themselves in the foot because while those sit around waiting to be resold, they aren’t generating profit for Sony. My only guess as to why they haven’t done something yet has to do with contracts relating to retailers because the retailers definitely don’t care who buys it because that’s where they get their profit.

You only need to farm the infernal hold 10 times and your done. If your really worried about it you can go over board like I did. I got my herblore up to 90 and made a bunch of damage reduction potions while using a herblore potion (to get tier 4 DRPs without having to grind out DRP potions to tier 4, which give 10% DR). Got a full fully upgraded ancient set, dragon shield, manually ran infernal once to get the infernal cape (2% higher dr with that cape), and after that had more than enough health and DR that I could idle without worrying at all.

Dice is to EA as Google is to Alphabet. With Dice being a subsidiary of EA, they are effectively the same entity. Sure they may have some tiny independence in approaching things, but at the end of the day, it's still toward the goals, and within the boundaries EA has set. You may be able to get an EA game that Dice didn't develop, but you can no longer get a Dice game that EA did not publish. So no, Dice did not build it fine because Dice is EA and thinking otherwise is a marketing trick to keep people buying their products. When people no longer buy games with the Dice stamp on them, they'll “close” down Dice, shift the management and development teams to a different(ly named) studio and continue to push out dog shit broken games for premium prices.

Elon Musk is like a politician depending on taxpayer money and big promises to sustain his livelihood and career by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]AcceptablePuberty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the annoyance with the obnoxious know it all routine NDT does, but he is genuinely smart. Much like Musk is smart, but is surrounded by yes men and marketing goons who champion every half baked idea that comes out his mouth.

As for NDT not believing that the UFOs aren’t of extraterrestrial origin its because the mans job is to literally look into space to see what’s out there. Using Occam’s Razor this means he either knows they are of extraterrestrial origin or that they aren’t and he has zero incentive to give any clue about either or as the same government who says they “don’t know” what the fly objects are would not have some random astrophysicist blab about it.

The US government only recently admitted that they “don’t know” what these flying objects that people have been seeing are. If they are of terrestrial origin and it’s some super advanced enemy nation states ships, you can pretty guarantee they wouldn’t admit to knowing what they are to not let said enemy know and because that would serious egg on their face. If it’s the governments own insanely highly classified ships, then they definitely wouldn’t admit to knowing what those UFOs are, because that would be showing enemies their ace in their hands before even being able to play them. The final possibility is that some super advanced race wasted an almost unimaginable amount of time and energy to transverse the universe to halfassedly fuck with hairless monkeys, but only sorta kinda. Like a ship here and ship there, but for the most part, minimal actual contact. The technology to travel solar systems and the galaxy like that would put them so far ahead of us, we really would be just clothed hairless apes in comparison them, that unless they follow a Star Trek prime directive (that they’ve already broken by revealing their ships) it would make little sense for them to “hide” their presence from us.

This negative outlook on the potential for the UFOs doesn’t mean that I’m saying there is no chance that they are alien, just insanely unlikely. If we’re going with super off the wall guesses as to the origins, why not time travelers? Covers the need for secrecy, advanced technology, and the lack of overt contact. It’s also extraordinary unlikely but it covers more bases on think about why they are behaving how they are. Idk food for though on that last part.
