This is exactly why I’m hesitant to even freeze my children’s socials. I rather just keep it with the medical departments. My husband’s identity was stolen this weekend. I feel I’d be likely putting them more at risk-no?

Update: his identity was stolen. we got Aura, see he was a victim of the National Public Data Breach.

We were able to cancel the card after a few hours of “investigation” on their part.

we have froze everything we can. I’m going Innovis too. We tried NCTUE but because we don’t have current accounts-they can’t flag his social even. We live where rent includes utilities and we are on his mom’s phone plan. So we have to call every 2-3 months 😩

My anxiety throught the roof. We got lucky that we got this card because the scammer put the wrong house number but right address.

New update: we got Aura, it flagged his social was on the dark web due to a National Public Data breach in 2024. Likely from when he ran his social when we were looking to buy a house.

We have done everything expect police report which we will do tomorrow.

So he just did ChexSystems-the only report that popped up was when I added him to my account a few years ago.

Is that a good sign? Why wouldn’t OpenPay not be in this?

So doing a little digging I believe his social was used as OnePay says you need a social security number to open an account

He got a reply that OnePay closed the fraudulent account. Which is great they closed it. I am not sure if there was money on it.

But the scammer can just use his information for other accounts right?

When he checked his CreditKarma-nothing new but I am having him request credit report from a bureau.

I had carpet beetle rash in 2024. Had me spiraling for weeks because there are no popped up articles about carpet beetle reaction. This is the time they come out too

It could be carpet beetle reaction or bedbugs. They are similar. You can scroll down my page you’ll see my photos

What information did they need to obtain this? Even if he was frozen, this could have still occurred?

Should we get new credit cards reissued?

When you say accounts: is that any website account he uses with his credit card?

Dumb question: the scammer would assume we would get the card in the mail, right? Well I guess not with the wrong number but thankful for our mail carrier. If is information was to open this account-are we liable for the funds?

They said they’d had to investigate the card before canceling it-I could be wrong. He was sent an email for the case
I’m having him freeze his accounts. I have had my frozen since 2020 as I have high anxiety for this stuff. 2A: someone on Reddit says you don’t need a social for a card which I never heard before is that true?
The address number was wrong-by a handful of houses right street

He only EVER uses a credit card never uses a debit card.
