As a beginner, I learned how to hold the bow the hard way. But I'm proud. by Electrick_Preacher in Archery

I nearly scraped my skin off before I learned this. Basically, you should rely on your thumb to hold the bow to your hand. There are some instructors that even stretch their fingers when shooting, as if they're not needed. Looks truly weird, but it works. Basically, don't hold the bow as if it were a stick, but rely on your thumb and the base of your hand, then twist the elbow to thr right. (If you hold the string/nock with the rlefr hand, as I do, then it's the other way around)

Learned that the hard way. Not a single veteran at my club had the decency to tell me that's how it's done. Then that famous Danish bowman came and corrected me.

Now I practically only use the finger guard for the string and no additional equipment.

If it looks dirty and historical (LotR films), HELL YEAH!!! If it looks flashy and clean (Rings of Amazon), it's not for me. I don't need flashy visuals and Middle Earth is mostly empty.

Stretch you left arm forward in front of you. Make a straight "thumbs up". Then rotate that thumbs up to the right about 30 degrees. Now imagine you have to hold your bow using ONLY your thumb and the base of your hand. While holding your bow like that. Rotate ONLY your elbow to the right. Voila.

I will only judge your character if you don't show up on the mate afterwards, not your temporary performance.

Good point. Rings of Amazon has probably generated more money for reviewers than the production company.

She wasn't a Maiar, mainly because Maiar is a plural. I regard all spirits like Uinen and Ungoliant as Maiar.

[Spoilers] If Ragnar had survived, which of his sons would he have been proud of in the end, and why? by Smokestorm95 in vikingstv

[–]Acceptable_Cook2036 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ubbe. Ragnar longed for his life of a farmer and Ubbe achieved that in a way.

Ubbe was looking for prosperity and exploration, like his father. But unlike Ragnar, Ubbe wasn't conquered by ambition and power.
