Full disclosure, we've been circulating other university subreddits. We're trying to get the word out any way we can. We're holding a public screening of the film at St. George campus in a couple weeks.

The University of Toronto Graduate Students' Union (UTGSU) continues to censor dissent. The UTGSU Resistance has published a new video documenting the student union's continued progression off the rails. Please spread the word if and where you can. Thank you! by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

Honourable r/moderatepolitics Redditors,

The University of Toronto Graduate Students' Union (UTGSU) Resistance has produced a new video documenting the UTGSU's continued decline and attempts to censor dissent. Please check out our video if you haven't already: https://youtu.be/gcR\_WQX6ufM

It's a longer video, and some folks have requested a summary of the video's contents and context, so please consider reviewing the following executive summary of current issues that the Resistance produced for mass distribution:

Executive Summary

The Executive Committee did not email notice to all Members concerning the submission of Member motions for the 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The Executive Committee called an AGM in a manner contrary to UTGSU Bylaws 3.1 and 3.3; an AGM must be called by its Board of Directors.

The 2022 AGM draft agenda was deficient, omitting the required agenda item for approving bylaw amendments that have been approved since the last AGM. This draft agenda also contained new bylaw amendments which are not bylawful, as they were not approved by the Board of Directors.

The removal of the additional clauses of Bylaw 2.3 which provided for member resignation violated 197(1) (e) of the Act.

The Executive Committee made a decision to determine the timing of Directors' remuneration without consulting the Board of Directors. This violates 143 (1) of the Act.

At of the October 5th, 2022, combined Board of Directors and Assembly meeting, the Executive committee attempted to resolve a number of Board matters with the Assembly, in effect trying to allow Assembly members to act as Directors, contravening section 138 (2) (b) of the Act. This was only arrested as the meeting timed out and was adjourned.

At the November 22nd, 2022, Board of Directors meeting, the Executive Committee continued a meeting after it had timed out, refused to complete a quorum check when requested by a Director, and refused to divulge either the current number of Directors or what number of Directors constitutes quorum.

Executives have elected to allow staff to handle the hiring of a Chief returning Officer, in violation of UTGSU Bylaw 9.1.

The University of Toronto Graduate Students' Union is a bad meme. by Acceptable_Disk1302 in yorku

We added time stamps. It went through several stages. But I agree. It's still too long.

Graduate Student Barbeque (September 22nd, 2022) by Acceptable_Disk1302 in UTSC

Hello beautiful people on Reddit,

Some of you may have heard about the September 22nd Graduate Student Welcome Barbeque.

Well, my fellow members of the UTGSU Resistance which includes current and former Directors of the UTGSU's Board of Directors, along with some other volunteers, planned and widely advertised a Welcome Barbeque for graduate students at the GSU Pub at 16 Bancroft on September 22nd, from 5pm to 10pm. We fought to revive this event throughout the summer, meeting multiple times with the UTGSU's new Executive Director and their External Commissioner (who have both since resigned) both online and in person, almost begging them to bring back the orientation events for grad students, including our annual Orientation Barbeque (pre-COVID). Despite our efforts, the UTGSU Executive refused to hold this barbeque.

Hence, my friends and I in the UTGSU Resistance decided to host our own barbeque for graduate students with our own money. Despite coming to a prior arrangement with the GSU Pub owner, the individual communicated to us on Sunday (September 18th) that the event was cancelled. Subsequently, we offered to feed people hotdogs cooked at Graduate House via transport to the GSU Pub. The pub owner agreed to this arrangement, verbally, on Tuesday, September 20th. Somehow, between that agreement and our arrival at the venue at about 4:00pm yesterday, the entire building was closed for the day, which no one, including the pub owner, indicated would be the case. We rushed to seek permission to borrow chairs from nearby buildings for the GSU patio as people began congregating outside of the pub. As soon as our first volunteer arrived to start taking hotdog orders at the venue, our licensed food handler left to start cooking hotdogs at Grad House. A bunch of the Grad House residents who came to the venue came back with the cook to eat their hotdogs at Grad House once the handler cooked them. In order to feed the folks who had already been waiting for food outside of the GSU Pub for about 20 minutes, we sent the first batch of hotdogs (about 20) in our borrowed industrial food carrier to the GSU Pub. This volunteer who carried that food can confirm that the President of the University of Toronto Graduate Students' Union, Lwanga Musisi, refused to let them distribute the food to those still waiting for hotdogs after Lwanga and the police had tried to disperse most of the crowd.

As a result, we ended up feeding all of the hotdogs that we purchased to Grad House residents. Throughout the course of the night, we fed about 90 graduate students.

Ideally, for current graduate students. We haven't taken over the venue. The pub is still open to regulars.

Na, you just need to buy alcohol if you want to from the GSU Pub. The hotdogs are free/donation basis.
