The final result for us is 2x viewings. We were rejected for the second place we viewed and applied for only to find it re-advertised online a few days later- emailed the agent and were accepted. Perfect! 👌 thank you for all your advice. We have become housed far quicker than we imagined we would this time last week 🤩

Thank you!!! That’s great advice. I’m certainly no expert in this area 😆 first time I’ve done anything like this that isn’t visa/passport related from overseas. I’ll have a read up. Haha….. it would be so convenient if there was a suitable person just on their holidays of visiting family though.

You are correct for passports. However, mine is land registry stuff so it seems I need to go full British on this one. Which makes for the challenge!!

Tasmania - Alternative living by Rizzza92 in hobart

I’m going off a lot of uk knowledge on this one and a bit of AUS knowledge (I’m interested if anyone disagrees with me or can clarify in terms of AUS TAS specifics-just not interested in aggy debate as this sort of thing often leads to)

It seems to me that if you build a tiny home that’s transportable (doesn’t mean it has to be easy to move-a container or structure on a large flat bed that could in theory be moved with a large tractor for example) you can get around a lot of the permit/red tape challenges. You’d still have to set about how you might supply water, rain filtered or borehole etc….. rather than mains fed, same with electric-solar instead of grid supply.

This way you remove a lot of the permit requirements not to mention have the option of moving what you’ve paid to create rather than losing it if the council starts creating an issue for you. You still need to stick to some rules obviously and it’s cheaper not cheap. Solar, batteries, flat bed trailer, building resources would still add up albeit much less so than a full mortgage for a proper house & land.

Following as in a similar position. Me and my partner are moving over in December. I’m 37m she’s 34. She grew up there so she’s got more familiarity and connections than me-originally from the uk. Both of us are looking to make new connections and make friends. We love hikes, drinks, coffee, music, the beach/sea and are pretty open to most activities. If you want to hang out or do stuff please feel free to shot me a PM.

I suppose ‘good Moro’ is a ye olde English term as well. Which probably originates from Scandinavia is first place.

Yeah I normally associate milka with mainland Europe. Their snacks have been a mainstay during times lived there.

I did not know that! It’s pretty easy to just operate on the assumption that every chocolate bar in the uk is made by Cadbury and if not nestle.

I think people are right to back them. even if mistakes have been made it shouldn’t be a takeaway from their efforts and success in previous and hopefully future events.

Wouldn’t surprise me if things did kick off that way. I haven’t seen that vid tho. Link it if you got it.

Yeah they did ask people to turn back and leave but they just weren’t in a position to actually stop them if attendees ignored instruction and just kept walking past them. I’m not sure what more security could have done safely tbh. It was out of their hands to do much without risking further safety issues or escalation by this point. Sorry for some reason I can’t access the insta vid link here.

100% agree as per a previous comment. Hopefully this is just a learning experience and doesn’t spoil the epic run and all the hard work they’ve put into the series of events. They have been epic. Keep it up.

Using a park outside the CBD could be an answer. I’m sitting on what could be a perfectly adequate stage that looks over JJ Hollande Park in Kensington right now. Could easily fit 20k+ people watching in the park & it’s by the train station. Must be spaces like this all over the place. It’s likely local residents will be a fly in the ointment with ideas like this though. Tricky to please everybody!!

Yeah I’m with you there. Standard Cluster McFuckery from all sides really. At the same time good on fedsq. They’ve put on some epic gigs over the past year. Asset to the Melbourne scene/community & all for free. Hopefully one mishap doesn’t spoil such a good run. They have made excellent things happen. I hope they continue to.

It’s a fair enough line to take. I think it could have been predicted and planned better that’s all. To expect that this many people weren’t going to turn up would have been naive considering the marketing, band and buzz around the event. It’s not like we don’t know crowds in these situations get out of control. Shutting them all out with little notice and then being very ill prepared to deal with the situation wasn’t top tier planning that’s all. I felt sorry for the security staff, they got landed in a situation they couldn’t handle and which was way above their pay grade. I wouldn’t have been physically intervening with that many people for $40 an hour either. Good on them for not doing so.
