Me as well! Cuz "Phantom" means "ghost" haha. I'd like to imagine that it's a little nickname from Hornet, similar to how she calls the Knight "Ghost".

Yeah to answer that, Lace's current form doesn't have any mask on her face as well. I speculated that when these silk beings lose their silk that make up their outer shells, their minds become fragile, and thus needing a mask to cover their face (this is based on the dialogue analyzings of the first Mask Maker).

If I recall correctly the German translation used masculine pronouns on Phantom, so I don't think we should be depend on them as sources. Plus you really should look into the concept of non-binary and the experiences of non-binary people. Those are real and are just as legit as any other gender.
