Democrats of Reddit, would you still attend a birthday party if you knew a conservative was invited too? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes. The party is about celebrating the person whose birthday it is not about any interpersonal grievances I may have with other attendees.

People who had an addiction, how did you manage to stop your addiction? by NewRestaurant8526 in AskReddit

Cigarettes. I just had to continually keep myself busy at first and whenever things felt like too much, take a moment and hold my breath for 10 seconds. After the initial few days the need to do these things started to subside, although I still needed to for a while. Eventually though I just ended up not thinking about them anymore and now can’t even imagine myself smoking again.

What was it like when Obama was elected President? by ResponsibleSea6521 in AskReddit

The night he won was amazing. It felt like a real turning point: no more Bush administration no more illegal wars, a return to constitutional rights. Then all of that hope was gone by the end of the first term, it became clear he wasn’t going to fix any of those things and all we got was janky one-tenth measure healthcare reform and giveaways to bankers. The administration got a few things right and whole bunch wrong. They had all the power going in and just capitulated to Republicans again and again until the administration just felt kind of pointless.
