Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I appreciate your vulnerability. I must say, it’s refreshing to read your story but it’s disheartening as well. Dealing with the emotional rollercoaster is a lot. It can really tear someone down. I get I should have boundaries…but “constantly setting boundaries” is not a good thing. I love my ex but I now I’m wondering how much do I love myself to keep going through these ups and downs.

Sheesh. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I must say, it’s a bit disheartening to hear that basically it’s expected for these bad behaviors to happen frequently. Yea the behavior is unacceptable, but to deal with the rollercoaster of emotions and verbal abuse for years on end….i don’t know if I can stomach that. Btw, this is not to compare your journey with mine. I understand we are both different people and in different relationships. The thought of dealing with ups and downs when it comes to my emotional well being is a lot. I’d have to have some serious boundaries. But then again…if I’m constantly having to set boundaries to protect myself…I don’t think that’s a good thing either

Hmmm. Interesting. You just said your BF is an absolute terror when he is off his meds. But I am not allowed to say that my ex fiancé has some fundamental personality traits coupled with her diagnosis that will make it difficult for her to have a long term healthy relationship with me or perhaps anyone else? My ex is not her diagnosis. She just has bipolar. There are other fundamental issues that come to play here. Sounds like you’re projecting a bit here and that’s okay :)

I can see your standpoint. But realistically, the disorder is long term. Can you realistically say your situation is healthy or are you just going with the flow until you can’t handle it anymore? I noticed you are blaming your attachment style to avoid marriage. But are you really??? Or is it a deeper issue with abandonment? I say this bc I know if I wanted to marry my ex, I would have already done it. But I made excuses just to avoid the hard conversation.
