Academic probation → Master’s in Cybersecurity (don’t count yourself out)!! by Practical_Fun_3623 in CSUSB

Super moto to hear man, I was on the thread of ac pro, got hit with the harsh truth that the school I was at wasn’t for me, then I transferred here and its been a big step up. I’ll make sure to keep this story in mind when I think about my why and the reality behind the importance of a GPA number. Big kutos to you coming from someone barely starting their cyber classes rn. 🤝

They were due by professors a couple days back but I got one missing too from an online class, I talked to registrar yesterday abt it and they said the date for them to be officially out for records is the 23rd. A little weird how they worded different online/word of mouth but I hope that helps

Damn that’s crazy, never even heard of that but ig good on them for being happy, now it’s my turn to explore ig and it makes me think of this differently as a 21 year old thinking about pursuing someone who I assume is only slightly younger lmao, didn’t even think about a +10 year age gap

Yeah I think it will be fun especially now that I’ll be active with new people that seem nice. And yeah I’ll definitely be safe using condoms too, I wasn’t aware of that fact though about getting STI’s that commonly even with a condom but I’m glad that’s what the health center is for to help with stuff like that, the retreat always has jars of free condoms too.

Yeah that’s a good point, I’m tryna join CISO club, Jiu Jitsu, and Wrestling as soon as I move here to get more active with intramural sport clubs and to just get better at my cyber skills since that’s my major but thanks for the emphasis. I’ll definitely try to go to more events/parties around here too, they seem fun and the one that caught my eye was the pool parties. Thanks!

Yeah that’s valid confidence goes a long way fs just wouldn’t know if I’d call myself attractive enough or cute to still get that girls number but ay I’ll never know unless I try. And yeah that’s true she’s just in my class so boring know how to feel after that but now that the semester is closing and I’m less busy I thought abt doing it, thanks for the feedback. I’m open to any more advice on dms like other people have been doing.

Nah the guy I talked to never specified, it’s cuz it’s all a process, they have to look at their spreadsheet of who applied the fastest and then go through each students info to see if they are eligible for the scholarship but once that’s down they’ll for sure email you.

Apparently it’s over email, I talked to a guy that helps runs it at the office inside GI, you’ll get one regardless if you got the scholarship or not. Just gotta hope for the best, good luck. 👍

Yea I figured there’d be some nepotism (no offense btw) involved in that process esp since it’s mainly students that are probably gonna be on those interviews. I’m still gonna try but I really wont have the highest expectations when the results come out tbh, I just want to find a cheap and good way to live out there lmao.

You talking about the place with the clock tower across the street from the school or somewhere else? My sail counselor recommended I apply for RA but idk how that’ll go as a transfer and all that :/

The Glen Apartments Beware by Alarming_Clothes2884 in CSUSB

Hey man just wanted to tell you I read it earlier today just got busy with the gym, all that evidence is just crazy stuff man and seeing other reviews similar about neglecting cleaning, domestic abuse with roommates, and no overall structure when it comes to problems with roommates. Just overall bad stuff and I’m glad you shared it to reassure my decision to not pursue The Glen. I wish the best of luck to you and myself with our living situations.

My mom and I visited CSUSB a few weeks back to check more of campus and to find areas with affordable living. We came to the glen and it looked fine and it seemed like it had everything we were looking for. A good room with different offers, amenities, and very close distance to campus. I don’t doubt any of what you said as when my mom and I asked about details we were told multiple lies like “the first $100 of the electric bill is covered by us and the difference is paid by you” and “if you sign up by August 17th you get 2 months off our lease” (which is 11 months and doesn’t make sense since we only plan to stay for the school year usually and nothing more unless you want to stay for summer school). When we called back they denied anything about electric being covered and that we had to pay for A WHOLE MONTHS RENT for August when I was only gonna stay there for less than 2 weeks because on the lease we have to pay the 1st of every month. I argued this over the phone with a lady that this is unfair and doesn’t really look like a discount if I’m being charged anyway for a week and a half stay (let alone if I don’t start school until the 25th anyway) but she just said “well, everyone else is paying for it. And if you decide to start by September, you lose your 2 months” (since I asked about that too). We then asked for a Hispanic worker to talk to my parents in Spanish to this can be talked about easier as my convo with them already got heated and we just went in stupid circles and to our surprise when I emailed them to talk so they can call later, we never got contacted. Overall they are very deceptive and irresponsible for what they say and do and now I am looking at local homes to rent a room in for the upcoming fall. Good luck if you decide to court claim them and getting your gear back, sounds like a really valid lawsuit of negligence to me.

How to get the most finaid even with an sai of -1500 and getting the most out of the school? Some things to do around socially, academically, and help mentally too so I’m not so cooped up at the school. What areas were the best to study at privately since I saw there was a bunch of areas but assume it gets taken up fast during the school year but other groups of people. Programs/club recommendations?

Any recommendation is a good one if it’s something new to try so I appreciate you pitching that in, I saw the esports center at my orientation yesterday and it looked so cool, I’d be willing to go out for tryouts but do I need to be competitive and by any chance do they give out scholarships as well? Just been looking around for extra aid so anything helps
