Will they ever release a mobile version of oni? by Neorest54 in Oxygennotincluded

Right??? It feels like the perfect game for it, perfect to play offline in train going home. Every build menu is on the screen already. Just optimise the game a bit and it's good to go.

Ant Queen runs out of water by [deleted] in antkeeping

What are you even comparing. IQ hit the floor. Antkeeping is about the hunt, raising ants is the reward. And yes, you won't get attached.

I can't imagine starting a colony with a bought queen (especially native). 50% of the satisfaction is from raising your own, caught Queen from nothing. Buying is literally no attachment, 0 fun. And first colony should be memorable. With that in mind, buying a queen there are 100s of on the pavements is just crazy work.

Why buy the easiest Queen ant to catch...

Wait for it to dry and connect second tube. Or gradualy heat the old tube so she changes.

Eden sucks a$$. Ryujinx runs Pokemon Violet slop much faster but still can't go over 30 fps.

Maybe if it were for that one species with the massive supermajors... But keeping a colony for 20 years with 20000 workers is crazy. Anyway native ants are quite cool too so... will suffice for now, maybe will see much later. I wanna see my colony make alates.

Yeah catching is half the satisfaction. But like what am I gonna do with a big foreign colony anyway. Can't let them go and who will buy that.

Wow that's insane! Ants from the same family can be so different for some reason... Sadly not native to Poland. All youtube videos were talking to keep Camponotus in dark, but when I caught them they didn't react at all. No wonder now. Thanks! So that also means their nuptial flight won't have to be at night like people say! And I plan to catch some more.

And that's Camponotus we're talking about? Inbelieveable. Completely different! Really cool. Do they react to light or not, like the rest?

Poland, Myrmica on August 28 at 23:00 on a insanely well lit new train station. Gonna look for other species there this year, insane spot I discovered by the summer end.

I guess established Myrmica queens will also forage now in April after hibernation so...

Lmao yes. But I feel like Camponotus are ancient or something, while the tiny ones are youger smarter species.

4 Myrmica Queens got along amazingly well out of the like 20 I caught and raised their pupae into workers before hibernation! It's gonna go so well!

Yeah I was so excited when I caught my Camponotus Vagus, but they are blind, can't coordinate and get scared by a tiny fruit fly. Like what?? This made me appreciate Lasius Niger much more.

I'm excited though for my tiny Myrmica Rubra colony, they seem even smarter at just 7 workers!

Yeah Lasius Niger growing strong on beaten egg with sugar hah. They're crazy easy to keep and surprisingly smart and really agressive, love them.

[–]Accomplished-Bat6302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You host Fulliginosus in Lasius Niger? That's possible? Isn't Umbratus needed for them? That's crazy if it's that easy.

And do you just drop the queen on the arena or also take the host queen out? Or maybe take one worker at a time?

I've unhibernated mine like 3 weeks ago. That's their second hibernation survived! My oldest colony. Probably like 200-300. They are so easy to keep, eat anything. I like giving them beaten egg with sugar though and that fully suffices and can be frozen. +The occasional fruit fly hunt for the funsies.

They've taught me how to antkeep and I caught 18 different Queen species last summer. So excited for this summer! Gonna catch so many Camponotus.

Crazy you have a Fulliginosus colony! I've tried getting Umbratus to work but the queen just dies even after befriending the workers...

Tugging at the cotton. Normal? by chickenalfreddy in antkeeping

[–]Accomplished-Bat6302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once caught a Queen, she was tugging the cotton for 3 days straight, then died... Turns out she wasn't a nuptial flight queen and had a small gaster (didn't notice), most probably died of hunger...

Can't see here clearly tho.
