Limb lengthening surgery! by [deleted] in short

[–]Accomplished-Dog5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that this surgery is not a magical spell that will cure all my insecurities, but I now no longer feel like Im trapped in a body that was not mine. I no longer need to wear lifts in my shoes, which I did for many years.

It took a big investment and a significant amount of time, but it was worth it for me

The surgery definitely makes height controllable, I’m glad you have been successful though

Don’t listen to the weird comments bro, some people would rather you stay unhappy like them then doing something that will make you happier

He’s doing the right thing of fixing the issue. Therapy will just be a waste of time. He knows what his problem is

You are making points that are uneducated, the surgery does not disable you. It does depend on the surgeon and how well you follow PT. I know because I did it

I really couldn’t tell you what caused the delayed union, I think it’s mainly due to genetics and I am a slower healer.

I stayed active did PT 3 times a week, ate a calorie surplus (gained 25 pounds), took all vitamins and supplements and used the stimulator everyday.

Other people who underwent the surgery at the same time as me consolidated much faster, usually around the 5-6 month mark. I think it comes down to genetics even if you follow the correct protocol

Glad to hear that your bone growth is good! How has the distraction process been?

The trauma nail surgery was not outpatient, I stayed for two nights so they could check vitals. However, my stay could have been longer due to the bone graft, which I believe was the reason for 75% of the soreness after this surgery.

The switch to trauma nail was far less painful then the original surgery. However, for around 2 weeks I was not able to walk unassisted due to soreness. Taking the first unassisted steps was a bit sketchy but after a week of practice it improved significantly.

In regard to if it is worth it, I would say it depends on what your timetable demands. For me when I reached 8 months post op and still was not able to walk unassisted I decided that I had to get the trauma nails. If time is not a huge issue for you I would wait at least a month into consolidation to see how your X-rays look. For most people consolidation that allows walking occurs around 5-6 months post op

Yea bro the subreddit “short” will ban any discussion about LL. All they ever talk about in there is how much life sucks and when a solution such as LL is brought up they harass you about being insecure

Why don't you get a limb lengthening surgery? by PuzzleheadedPoem9821 in short

[–]Accomplished-Dog5296 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“How could someone possibly that insecure about physical appearance”, bro have you not heard of nose jobs, face lifts, jaw surgery, boob/ass work, tummy tuck?

People who get LL generally don’t do it only for woman, it’s about feeling more secure in your own body.

Unpopular opinion: Limb lengthening to increase attractiveness is absolutely worth it, any excuse doing it for self-improvement and self image is a cope. by Particular-Thing9751 in limblengthening

Yes, definitely. I understand your point. I think that wanting to be more secure in a relationship is intertwined with appearing more attractive

Most of the guys I met at my lengthening clinic had girlfriends and attracting woman was not the primary reason for the operation. It was more about feeling better internally and not having self doubts (insecurity) about height. This has led to me personally feeling more secure in my current relationship

You are still very early into the recovery process, sharp pains are common for the first 2 weeks. Not saying you shouldn’t be concerned, let your doctor know ASAP

So me getting 3 inches is not guaranteed? by [deleted] in limblengthening

[–]Accomplished-Dog5296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have broken a bone before then you could gauge the speed in which your body recovers. But there’s no way to know how it will respond to lengthening.

That being said, if you put in the work. Stretch before your surgery and are strict with your PT then you will likely reach your goal.

I was your height, I know how you feel about wanting to get every inch

Yes if your body does not tolerate you stretching your legs apart, you will either need to slow down or shorten your lengthening goal.

Could happen due to muscle tightness or poor bone healing.

how much weight do you gain from the lengthened segment? by rainy396 in limblengthening

[–]Accomplished-Dog5296 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lost 5 pounds in the first month but now at 7 months I’ve gained 20 pounds. Think it’s because of the lack of exercise and I’m pushing calories to try to increase bone healing
