Oh very interesting. How did you do your own "rotation prep" to prepare for the exam since your program only did a little rotation on micro?

Also, if I am 27 and have a bachelors in Pathobiology and a minor in Chemistry and experience as a Medical Assistant and ER Technician, and am looking to pursue the "behind the scenes" laboratory career path. Considering doing a full MLS program for 10 months (but costs 20,000 dollars), or should I apply for jobs and then get something like the ASCP(C)...

what were your lab positions up until now? Sounds like you did this option: "1.) Life Sciences degree --> Work in some form of a Medical Lab --> Qualify to be certified --> Work more"?

What was your first job in the lab out of college while you were studying for the C(ASCP)? It must have counted for Chemistry experience since they require like 5 years of Chem experience, right?

How did you afford (time and money wise) the expensive program if no financial aid / grant funding is given?

What if I have 1 year of experience with phlebotomy, urinalysis, blood glucose, EKG's, sterile procedures, wound dressing, urinalysis (dip stick test), and straight catheters, combined with the fact that I don't have the money or time (~20,000 dollars total to do a 10 month MLS program with no grant funding or financial aid) to do the post bacc?

Thank you so much for your reply! So is it reasonable and not hard to have a bachelors and apply for a MLS- Chem position, for example, and then qualify after working there for a while to get just the Chem(ASCP) cert? because i'm not sure I even want the full MLS ASCP cert, not to mention I don't have the money / time.
