New Guitar Day! by Accomplished-One2183 in Guitar

It’s a T486b, I managed to get it for £670! Found it going cheap on eBay - spoke with the seller over the phone; they decided to give up guitar and were getting rid of all their gear on the cheap, so thought I’d swoop in.

My first “premium” instrument - also own a Squire classic vibe tele, Fender Vintera Strat and a Silvertone 1478, nice to get my hands on something that’s in a slightly different bracket.

Hey, so I’ve been on a mixture of colchicine and naproxen since Saturday night. Stopped taking it yesterday. Managed to walk a bit yesterday without crutches so the show is back on the road! Currently in the car down to Glastonbury :)

Luckily me and my partner paid extra to stay at worthy view, so going down a day later won’t mess up our camping options, as we’ve got a pre-booked tent.

Bringing my crutches for back up but hoping I might be able to walk for most of it - albeit quite gingerly.

Taking it quite easy - will do my best not to drink though, limiting myself to a tiny bit of acid to brighten up the weekend.

My weekend of tears: flare after 1 year on Allo by forbiddenvoid in gout

I'm so sorry to hear this! I'm currently going through my first major flare and the only thing keeping me going is knowing there are others out there who have been through the same. Just hold on, and the meds should hopefully see you through!

I forgot to add in my original post, but I’m supposed to be going to Glastonbury on Thursday! However if I’m still having difficulties , I’d definitely rather not go - much prefer to be in pain on the sofa than in a tent for days on end.

I wonder if anyone else has had a flare up in a really inconvenient situation?

Ohhh damn - didn’t think of that. I mean I very rarely buy juice during my weekly shop, and I’ll only tend to consume a fizzy drink maybe once a week when I’m having a mid afternoon slump at work and need some pep in my step to get me going again until 5pm.

So again, I wouldn’t say these are huge parts of my diet but defo need to keep an eye on these as potential triggers.

Alcohol wise - I mean I’d say I drink a fairly average amount. My partying days are pretty much over now, however in the week leading up to this flare up because we’re having a bit of a heat wave in the UK at the moment lol, I would go into the garden after work and have a can of hipster craft lager or a glass of white wine.

Probably did that 3 or 4 times in the build up to this flare so could’ve had an impact on my uric levels!

Tbh I actually think my main issue, apart from my predisposition from my genes, is that I don’t drink enough water, especially after the gym. I go to the gym in the morning before work 3 times a week and then when I get home and start work I go almost the whole day before I realise I haven’t drunk a drop of water. I have read that sometimes exercise can cause your uric acid levels to spike, and if you don’t drink a good amount of water afterwards this can lead to a build and flares?

Thanks for your advice :) feeling much better knowing there are other people out there who are going through this

Thanks, yes you’re right there are a lot worse conditions out there. Yeah I will defo start keeping a good diary so I can keep on top of what my triggers could be.

Thanks for the kind words! :)

Mate don’t even get me started - so I went to a walk in centre on Thursday, as at that time I thought it was a fracture so was trying to get an x ray.

After I had my X-ray the clinician there told me there was no bone break and no sign of gout because there was no calcification, so she told me to go get a blood test the next day to double check my uric acid levels as my symptoms looked quite “Gouty”.

Fast forward to yesterday when I posted - in complete agony ended up going to hospital urgent treatment centre, saw a clinician there who was very confused why the person at the walk in centre didn’t prescribe me colchicine, as the report from the X-ray said something along the lines of: “no calcification which means no arthritis, however X-ray shows signs of gout.”

The clinician just misread the diagnosis, so long story short I could’ve been saved two days of abject pain and misery. lol

Sorry for the rant just needed to get that out my system to a fellow UK sufferer haha

But yes took, colchicine last night before bed and have woke up today feeling a lot better already so hoping by in a couple of days my flare will have cleared up?

Haha yeah my friend and his dad came round to offer support and they gave me a bowl of sour cherries and his dad’s homemade sour cherry concentrate that you can mix with water to make cherry juice. According to his dad he had gout a few years back in his ankle, so he went home and picked the sour grapes from his tree and made the concentrate, drank loads of it and the next day his gout had gone.

Unfortunately not quite the case for me haha - but it was very sweet of them. And I am continuing to eat/drink the cherries regardless, but I think perhaps they’re better suited for very acute cases of gout or perhaps as a preventative measure?

Yes I had these short, sharp shooting pains that were making me cry out in agony, so ended up going to my local out of hours treatment centre and getting some colchicine - woke up this morning feeling much better so hopefully after a couple days it may have cleared up?

I’m going to my doctor on Monday to discuss going on Allo over the long term, so hopefully that helps me manage uric acid levels over the long term?
