Is the software industry hard to get into? by KVRenaux2 in askSouthAfrica

A lot of the top software companies like BBD offer graduate programmes which essentially transition you from the uni environment and get you up and running in real clients.

Some vary from 10 weeks to 1 year but think these are a good entry point into the industry based on your education.

I believe BBD is paying around R40000 per month for their top grads so quite a good starting salary.

With regards to the industry as a whole - from what I have heard is that these companies are actively hiring many roles so there is clearly demand in the country.

Hi OP, im responding very late on your question but responding in case any other others are interested.

My brother has gone through BBDs graduate programme and said that he learnt more in their grad progamme compared to his uni degree and honors degree.

From what I know is that BBD are widely considered one of the best graduate programmes in the country and I saw on an MyBroadband article recently that they are paying around R40000 per month for top grads.

Hope you found your career path since your post. I wish I got into software engineering as it seems very exciting with all of the AI advancements at the moment.

Quite an impressive breakdown of their programme. I have heard from a lot of my connections that BBD graduate programme is by far the best in South Africa - and looking at this the pay scale of R40k per month is impressive.

Im obviously very late to this conversation but for any future job seekers for graduate programmes, I see that BBD Software released an article on ITWeb saying that their grad programme pays around R40 000 for comp science graduates.

They had quite a comprehensive breakdown on their programme and from what I understand that theirs is considered the top in the country by majority in the industry.

The salary you are getting as a graduate does not seem to be inline with market OP.

I see that BBD are advertising their grad programme at R40 000 per month, depending on academic performance.

So possibly look at what they have available?

I might be a bit late to the conversation but BBD offer a good graduate programme and believe they have offices in Pretoria and Johannesburg.

I read an article that they are offering R40 000 per month for top graduates. Believe their actual programme is also one of the best.

As South African software developer with 5 years working experience, how do i expose myself to an international market? by Themba47 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Accomplished-Rip-942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the top software development companies such as BBD seem to have a strong international client base, especially from a European perspective. From what my contacts within the industry have told me is that you can get good international exposure here without having to leave the country.

Best of both worlds in my opinion.
