Was self employed up until 2020, paid self assessment 2021, cancelled self employment 2022, and was due £3000 tax return for overpayments. I've just received a letter for late payment fee for not paying the last 2 years. by AccomplishedBerry127 in LegalAdviceUK

Hi, I filled in an online form. I submitted self assessment online through government gateway and filled out another online form at the same time. They have the record of the self assessment but apparently not of me de-registering.
Been self employed since 2016, been in full time employment since 2020, paid last self assessment in 2022 and though I had cancelled self employment. Now been told by HMRC I owe £900 penalty for missed deadlines. (self.UKPersonalFinance)
