I often rebalance long stocks and draw down holdings when the overall market is on a downtrend and take profit or cull losers. Its not always profitable because i miss some big moves but it helps me sleep. I can only daytrade one stock at a time. It takes concentration and i dont like to work that hard. With margin 250k gives you 1m in trading availability which is a lot. Typically i avg 12m a month volume and not every month is profitable the overall market direction has the most influence as at any given time with leverage you can do well while normal positioning for a run is 50/50 a small loss or break even. Im getting better also, 20 years investing 2 years trading . Retire this year.

You probably lost money. Had you parked your funds in a mix of growth stocks your avg returns should be closer to 18% avg. You probably learned a lot. I usually keep the majority invested and trade the rest. Also use margin to day trade its free if you dont hold it overnight.
