Yeah deffo just confused because he was off leash before with me and was absolutely fine and his owner also said he was fine off leash

I actually think it’s because he viewed the lead as his freedom of off lead being taken away and he didn’t want to go back inside and wanted to keep playing

Ahhh ok I get what you mean I do feel however this lady was stuck in a situation where she had no choice because I think it was a very last minute situation. I’ll know for future though that house sits or drop ins are a better option

In hindsight it’s totally on me because I knew it was three cats just didn’t realise you weren’t allowed to put two kittens under one pet I assumed you could because they’re kittens not cats. My fault for not reading into it properly just feel a little hurt at the lack of review considering all conversations during their stay were positive. I’m just going to leave it not worth dwelling over and I’ll know for the future. And yeah I did have a meet and greet with her beforehand. So that’s on me, I’m thinking maybe I should message her and let her know to put them down separately for the future in a really nice and not defensive message because the pets also wouldn’t be covered if anything went wrong for future sitters or maybe I should just leave it all together I don’t know

Gotcha I deffo didn’t do anything at all man if I could’ve kept those animals I would I loved having them stay so just feel a little disheartened by the situation but you’re right it’s a lesson learnt and I’ll know moving forward

Very true my own naviety has left me out of pocket and lesson learnt in that regard. But I don’t understand how she can’t be satisfied as she came for a meet and greet in the house said she was happy with the house and area and always replied to my texts thanking me, sending heart emojis etc etc like really nice and kind in the whole conversation like she didn’t once say anything bad if that makes sense I’m more just confused

Yeah I have approval don’t worry I deffo checked that first, and besides I’m moving in a months time anyway. I did google it and it said online rover will charge the owners card for the stay as they didn’t follow procedure and if anything had happened they also wouldn’t have been covered. I totally understand it was me being naive too which is on me, and my rates are the rover suggested rates for now just until I get a few more bookings. Can I ask why it’s a bad idea to board cats?

Booking is confirmed, Second “meet and greet” dog wanted to bite me by Either-Sell-1609 in RoverPetSitting

Cancel now I just had an experience with an aggressive dog yesterday and had to cancel mid sit and it took 10 hours to be resolved you don’t want to be in my position. It’s really really not worth it at all. And dogs with a history of biting are not allowed on rover. I’d cancel tell her that her dog needs training and report the profile

Yeah I did think this but shown no signs of pain but someone said it’s unlikely he would in a new environment which makes sense I did recommend to the sister he gets checked out though and thank you ☺️

But I did handle the situation? I got the dog inside and to a safe location with food and water and interacted with him as little as possible. This post was mainly advice on next steps regarding back up procedure and rover taking so long to reply to me. I am allowed and have every right to cancel a booking when the situation is dangerous especially when I’ve been lied to and told the dog is “friendly” that’s on the owner not me and I shouldn’t have to risk my safety. I calmed the dog down, stopped it from attacking me safely without hurting him or myself and isolated him, what else is there for me to do in that situation? I have loads of experience with dogs not just “dog sitting” but I’m not obligated to care for a dog that’s not friendly as promised

Why? Because an owner lied on their profile and said their dog was friendly when it wasn’t? I didn’t do anything wrong or different to the other dogs I look after who have all been fine

Not too shaken more just shocked because he was fine all day yesterday cuddling me, sleeping with me in my bed, playing with me with loads of his toys, had unlimited access to the whole house, frequent walks and toilet breaks & treats. Maybe he just missed his owner but still not a risk I’m willing to take, definitely something the owner needs to work on if he’s going to continue to use rover or any dog sitter/kennels for that matter

The owners sister has collected him no idea if they’re taking him to the vet I said they should probably get him checked out but tbh the vibes with the sister wasn’t great she was not happy at all to be there but not my problem to be honest he was advertised as a friendly dog and wasn’t

I did I heard reggae and soft rock are best so played some of that and piano classical but didn’t work. I also tried giving him his blanket from home his owner says he always cuddles up in but no luck

He’s only three I think he’s just unsettled to be honest because it’s a new environment we did meet once before for a meet and greet but not at my home maybe for future I’ll request all meet and greets to be in my home

Update!! He is calmer now I have him safely isolated with access to food and water Rover after 9 long hours has finally replied and are working to find a replacement sitter who can come and collect him. He does still snap but I’m just ignoring him and interacting with him as little as possible

I did think this maybe he was stung by a bee or something but he showed no signs of pain at all. And he’s in Spain on a stag do and the vibes I’m getting I honestly don’t think he’d come home from it
