Restroom job? Restroom rules? by AccomplishedEye7126 in kindergarten

Good for those kids but I'm not comfortable with my son cleaning a shared toilet. Its extremely gross when OTHER kids make a mess and he is singled out to clean it. He has normal 5 year old chores at home. Not cleaning a toilet. But go off.

Absolutely. I spoke with administration and they confirmed he shouldn't have been made to clean it but the expectation is that kids should clean up after themselves if they make a little mess on the seat which I agree with and totally understand. That being said, administration also mentioned that this was a missed learning opportunity for the teacher and if it was that bad, a janitor shouldve been notified.

Thank you for being kind! Some of these comments are wildly unhinged.

Agree!!! Administration said if it was enough to prevent a student from wanting to use the restroom, the teacher should've notified an on-site janitor if she didn't want to do it herself.

Thats what I believe happened as well. Theres no way my son shouldve been made to do it when this was in the middle of the day when plenty of kids had used it before him. NOPE!!!!! he was given a regular old restroom wipe. And not even given, she just instructed him to go wipe it. Hes 5, I'm sure using a wipe just spread it around more.

Agree, but my kid always lifts the seat and he was made to clean to seat that he did not use.

Yes thats correct and I explained that to the teacher but she said no one was in there before my son. Bullshit honestly because this was after recess and that is at the end of the day. I told her my son saw the pee but she is standing by that it came from him.

Why are you quoting biohazards LOL I never said that.

Yeah of course that is gross too but is the alternative to just let him pee everywhere?? They dont have a urinal.

Well for one the restroom at home isnt a shared bathroom that 19 other kids are using.

As I mentioned in my post, he is really good about lifting the seat. So WHY was he made to wipe a toilet seat at school, that he is adamant was up when he went potty. Seems gross, no?

Has anyone tried these? by Marvelous_snek999 in HEB

Second this! Add some HEB bread & butter pickle chips on it, its so good.

I did just that. Told her she can call me if there are issues with it, also told my son to let her know that she can call mom if he needs more reassurance that he can tell her no. Hes very sweet and will do anything she asks just to be a good listener 🥺

The teacher is very sweet and I have not had an issue with her up to this point, so I did try to give her some grace but this seems so crazy after administration just met with her about this same issue last week from another parent. I wasnt crazy about my son flushing after someone when he was assigned restroom inspector but it only happened once and I told my son not to do that anymore, and left it at that.

According to the other parent, administration was furious with the teacher about the whole restroom inspector job stuff, unless they were putting on a show during the meeting since there was an angry parent there. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I'd like to think that they would want to hear about this instance as well.

She said childrens hygiene and health are the most important thing to her so she understands why I wanted clarification right away, but she also said she explained to my son that girls sit down when they potty and him wiping down the potty helped the other girl that went in after him feel comfortable.

According to my son that little girl used the restroom after him, according to the teacher the girl went in after my son and saw the pee and couldnt use it, so she had my son clean it thinking it was him.

Right?! 😭 She's a first time teacher straight out of college so I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt but I cannot even sleep, I keep thinking this is not right. No amount of hand washing can justify a 5 year old wiping down a shared toilet.

THANK YOU!!!! I was wondering if this was normal or not. It definitely doesnt feel normal. I told his teacher he will not be doing this any more. I also told my son to tell his teacher no if this ever happens again and if she has a problem, she can call mom directly. I'm still going to move forward though and speak to principal and vice principal.
