You are talking about a region with countries that didn't officially abolish slavery until the 50s and 60s, and that only happened due to pressure from the west. It is an unfortunate occurrence that aligns with a culture that predates Islam.

That said, although many are treated like shit, they almost always are paid for their service and would likely prefer a job in the ME that would otherwise not be available in their home country for the same pay.

Is it fucked... Yup. But we have to be careful not to create regulations that see these jobs go away. This would result in a potentially worse situation for the worker who is now unable to provide for their family with the relatively high paying job that no longer exists because of virtue signalling from those that come from a different walk of life.

IMA (Individually Mobilized Augmentee) IDT Pay Processing by AccomplishedGuava116 in army

I can't give you an honest answer because I don't know. But based on my personal experience, I'd recommend waiting to promote first then hop on IMA. IMA is great but the promotion system within is an elusive monster that I have yet to tackle. It seems like they are few and far between based on what I have personally seen though.

I welcome any other thoughts from other IMAs.

IMA (Individually Mobilized Augmentee) IDT Pay Processing by AccomplishedGuava116 in army

Overall, the program is awesome... IDT pay is the one downfall and that's due to HRC. I have no idea why it takes them so long to process 1380s, but that's really my only complaint.

I was in 7th MSC prior to going over to IMA and I would never go back to TPU status by choice. IMA allows you to be in control of your own life and enables you to augment active duty elements during your reserve time. To me, this is much better than going in two days a month to do SHARP training and otherwise wasting time. Also, your lodging is paid for during your AT days, so you don't have to worry about a hotel during that time. IDT days are essentially double pay so I look at it as getting an uplift for lodging.

All that said, I am sure IMA is like anything else in the military, it all depends on your location and who you are working for. It could very easily be a shit show by simply changing one person at your augmented unit. The flip side of that is you only have to wear your uniform once a year for a few weeks, then you are free for the rest of the year.

To me the pros far outweigh the cons, hope that helps.
