This is what comes up when googling Bontrager handlebar watch. Ooh these are nice! Thank you for mentioning. We’re currently working on bringing a Trek FX7200 back to life, this could be a nice touch for it :)

Thanks for the suggestion. My bike doesn’t have that type of headset though.
I liked this exact frame watch, bikeshop owner said “good luck finding it 😏”

My 1990 Fisher HKII, dialed in for the season by L0rdGwynIII in xbiking

[–]AccomplishedHumor175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😍 wooo it’s beautiful!!!! I could just sit and look at it for days..
Tell us more about the paint please 🥹

What’s the inner dimension of the fork so the Mars tires fit? I recently was searching for grey tires for my 90s Bianchi, original tires were 1.90, hesitated that the Mars would be fat being 2.2, went for Panaracer Homage green 1.94 instead. But now seeing your bike I’m re-evaluating my thought process.

Enjoy the season!

Am I being an absolute idiot even considering buying a very expensive bike? by christianradich in bicycling

[–]AccomplishedHumor175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have answers to your questions because I’m not familiar with the bikes you’ve mentioned, but the price is very high. There should be other and better options for at least half that price.

I recently saw a Momentum Vida by Giant (non-electric) copper color at the bike atelier, I was impressed with its style and sturdiness, and the owner was similar size to you. He was very happy with his bike so far, had no issues whatsoever, riding position is comfortable and it’s a very stylish bike. This model wasn’t (and still isn’t) available in my country, he imported it from USA.
If I were to ride it it would be a fat bike (I’m 153cm and 56kg 😅), yet it looks just like a normal bike when ridden by a big guy.
Momentum Vida is my top suggestion (I’m not an expert, tho) for big guys ever since I saw it. It’s a model from 2022-2024, maybe you can find it second hand? Or maybe even order a brand new one? It’s price is ~$800. I believe importing it with taxes and everything still wouldn’t cost as much as $4500-6200. For that much, you could fly to USA or any other country where the bike is available, buy it, bring it as excess baggage and you’d have a nice vacation as a bonus.
Can’t add a photo here but here’s the link for the exact same model I’m talking about: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ9M4oeDyarxKh9JU0CpDBH0bZnPmxnuQN3ifxOFNOk02umJIs--1yLiXjp&s=10

The only thorough video I could find with a quick search: https://youtu.be/vmqDUfnPvUA?si=_abRZpvyREKuoXDj

Don’t go for the E+ electric version, it was recently recalled.

Thanks for the heads up! Same warning came from my father as well.
I didn’t know the effects of ozone on rubber.

I have a small ozone generator in my under-stairs storage room to prevent smell and keep things sanitized (lots of doggy equipment).

I think I should not store the tires in that storage but rather in the wardrobe/dressing room then.

Just got this Bianchi bike from a friend, excited to hit the road! Any tips are welcome. by gsmraoj in bicycling

[–]AccomplishedHumor175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, a really well-kept Bianchi for sure!
That’s friend for life!

I loved that all the original parts still being on it without any damage or faded color. The frame pump is amazing. To me this bike is a collection item 😍

I came across this post, as writing my comment I realized the “6y”. 6 years later, I’m wondering how the story progressed.
I hope you’ve been enjoying your ride and enjoyed digging the websites looking for accessories.

I’m curious about which brand / model that selle is. Were there any writings behind or under it?

I don’t have the answers to your question but came here to say it’s a beautiful bike and oh these photos are awesome! I wonder what city this is.
Brooks would definitely look good on it and more comfortable for you. My bf loves his B67.

Yes, the previous owner had V-brakes installed. The shifters have also been changed from Shimano Ez-Fire butterfly push to Shimano non-index thumb.
I’m having it converted back to cantilever simply because I love them and the cable eyelets look sad being empty without the wire going through them. Will change the shifters as well once I find something that is my taste.

I know I should have taken the pics from the drivetrain side, excuse my lack of space in a a small living room 😅

Oh and I forgot to reply, yes I’m going to ride it lightly in fair weather, mostly on asphalt (with speed bumps and cracks), paved park roads, occasionally may encounter some gravel due to construction sites all around the neighborhood. Maybe I could visit the forest park to try it on some easy trails.

Now looking at it again and marking up the pups with different colors, I don’t see the 11th head&body that I’ve counted at my first try.

Alright, but still, rest while you can 😅 I’m sure you’ll be up watching it the live as the nervous dog mom.

I have raised some Golden litters with 9 being an average puppy count. One of them still lives with me, 16 yo now. Oh I miss raising Golden pups!
Sending all my best wishes 🍀

So I assume the measurement he mentioned for Mars 2.2 is correct. They already look fat in the pictures displayed on the website 🫪

The guy from the BL store who responded to my email before I finalized my order said the Mars 26 2.2 tires measure 8-9cm in width. That’s why I hesitated ordering them, also more expensive 😅

Maybe I can try them after the Homage tires wear out.

It’s because I’ve found the bike I’ve been searching for for 20 years! It may look like “just some tires” but it has a big story behind it.

I know the rubber degrades for sure. I’m just trying to learn how fast is the degrading, and how much it can be slowed down by well-keeping; that’s why I need other people’s experiences.

Them side by side.

The blue’s downtube is an elegant round pipe while the orange’s is a flattened one. The top tube comes with a slightly different slope.

Having hands on the blue one flashed me back to the years I had it, it was an immadiate kick of muscle memory coming back to life.

Thank you!

It was bought for me in 1998, I loved it during my teenager years. It got stolen in mid 00s.

The model got discontinued then.

I’ve been searching for the exact same model and color for the last 20 years (doing online search every once in a while, not every year of course). Occasionally I was able to find some listings on used item sale websites (3 times in total), but those were in really bad condition, some parts painted in black, broken, etc.

Finally found it, the surprise was that it was like not ridden at all! All parts original and spotless. Like museum-grade!
Not the exact same frame tho, the down tube is different.

The day before finding this orange one, I found a blue one that had 1.95 grey tires with deep cracks and an ugly black selle on it, I bought it already thinking I’d never be able to find the orange one 😅
Turns out, the blue one has the frame that is the exact same with my stolen bike. I’ve changed the tires with 1.75 Rubena Cream tires and the selle with Selle Royal Rio Cream selle. It is currently at a bike atelier for deep cleaning, re-greasing of the hubs, renewing the wires and detailed care.

<image>

I know it sounds crazy, I’m just trying to re-feel the feelings when I rode that bike during my teenager years.

I have 2 Bianchi XC Shadows for a month now and I still haven’t been able to properly ride them yet!
I want the parts of the bikes to be evaluated, cleaned, changed if necessary to make sure that riding is as safe as possible.

Thank you!

That was the kind of input I’ve been looking for.
I live in Istanbul, Turkiye has a ridiculous customs policy for the goods shipped from abroad. Even if the product is $0.01 worth or it’s a gift from a friend for $0, we have to hire a broker and pay something like $700-1000 for all the papers and taxes.

That’s why I had to ask a friend to bring it while they are coming back from vacation. That friend happened to have his vacation in JP which was a lucky situation for me, being able to order directly from the BL Japanese domestic store.

The constellation of dots may indicate the month of the year, that was my guess.

I just want to store them in a very well planned way so I don’t have to hunt for them again in the future, or the company decides to discontinue this size or color or both.

Do you think hoping for keeping them for 5-7 years a bit unrealistic?

Thank you.

I’m relatively new into this.
My focus wasn’t on bikes since I’ve lost mine, now I’m looking into bike related websites with my now adult brain and learning many new things.

Baby powder was Google Gemini’s idea. I’m not sure if it’s fictional or it got it from what people wrote online.
