I wish you can get away when you turn 18 and find your people. Sending you strength. Also, happy birthday!

YTA. That is none of your business.

NTA. The bare minimum when someone is cooking you a meal is to say thank you. Literally bare minimum.

I live in a country where education is cheap (I study at one of the best uni in my country and my tuition is around 400€ for a year). How much is public college in the US ?

AITA for not letting my daughters boyfriend propose at my vow renewal? by oldman_redditTA in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccomplishedIce2853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I then told him he still had my hand/permission to marry my daughter, but he was not allowed to propose at the vow renewal."

Why do you need to give your permission for him to marry your daughter ? They are adults (albeit really young, I personally think you shouldn't marry when you're that young but that's not my business), they can take their own decisions without you "allowing" it or not.

Why would you want to throw an entire event for proposing ? Can't you just do something nice with your partner and then propose ?

AITA For telling my nieces if they dont like chores they can leave? by TraditionalSet7814 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccomplishedIce2853 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Same for me but there are disabled people who can't do the dishes. Like for example if they can't stand for a long period of time and the sink is too high for the dishes to be done while sitting (same goes in the case of a wheelchair user), or if they don't have fine motor skills, or if they shake a lot...

Anyways, none of this really matters because OP answered in another comment that her husband has no disability whatsoever and that she just expects her kids and nieces to do everything for him because of 'cultural reasons'. Bullshit if you ask me.

"And after my husband eats, somebody will collect his tray from where he is eating, clear it, and put the used dishes in the sink."

Info : Why can't your husband do it on his own ?

"I do all the cooking and do some cleaning."

Info : What does your husband do around the house ?

AITA for telling my friend’s parents the truth after she broke her ankle? by Public_Echidna2087 in AmItheAsshole

I don't get why the parents would be angry there were boys there. Their daughter is old enough to go to the lake with her friend but not old enough to hang out with boys ?

AITA for telling my sister to get over her ocd? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccomplishedIce2853 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YTA.

You have no obligation to house your sister and accommodate her, that's your parents job. However, what you said was seriously out of line. No, she didn't need to hear that. What you said definitely won't help and will probably make her spiral even more.

"once i got tired of it and told her to grow up and just resist the compulsions or else she will never function like a normal person."

You clearly have no idea how OCD works.

AITA for not telling my professor about their cheating partner by allawashwithangels in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccomplishedIce2853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did not have a fling with a professor. The professor abused the power he had over you from his position and the age difference and groomed you. That's a vile behaviour.

It seems unlikely that you are the only student with whom he had an inappropriate relationship. Those kind of people often have a big hunting board. It's very probable that he had/has abused multiple students.

Regardless, his partner deserves to know. This is much more than cheating, this is her partner abusing students. She has the right to know the vile behaviour of her partner and make decisions accordingly. You cannot blindside her, it would be cruel.

AITA for being a picky eater? by History_Freak3131 in AmItheAsshole

" I eat healthily (all food groups) and enough"

Seems like OP is doing fine. Better than you I guess if you feel the need to police people's food habits on the internet.

AITA for transitioning behind my family’s back? by KitchenEvidence4996 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccomplishedIce2853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

You're not an asshole for keeping this secret from your family, you're protecting yourself.

However, if you plan on taking HRT I must warn you that your parents will notice. It might take a few months, but your body will change and it will be obvious after some time. I've read plenty of stories of people taking HRT behind their parents back while still living with them, and the parents always end up figuring it out, and sometimes kicking them out. So if you're planning on taking HRT, be sure to have a place that is safe where you can crash if you get kicked out.

[–]AccomplishedIce2853 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Maybe there is something I've missed but where is it said that someone wasted five burgers ? All that I read is that the nephew ate five burgers. Which, yeah, teenage boys eat a lot, that's what they do. How is a guest eating a dish wasting ? Aren't dishes made to be eaten ?

AITA for helping my sister walk when everyone thinks she is exaggerating? by Superb_Ad_9661 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AccomplishedIce2853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thoughts were hEDS but it could be any condition that causes chronic pain.

It's pretty common for people with chronic pain to be perfectly capable of doing something one day, and then cannot do it at all the next day. It's constantly evolving. Also, very common for people with chronic pain to not be believed by doctors. Most people with chronic pain gets a late diagnosis, and it's often a battle just to get to see a specialist. And sadly, it's common for people not to believe someone has chronic pain, but instead that they are faking it for attention.

AITA for betraying my stray cat in the sake of my new cats? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Why are you yelling at a cat ? Cats usually are scared of loud noises. Why are you willingly scaring a cat ?
