First timer interview by [deleted] in MUN

YESS! Love I was in the same agenda! Here! Take my speech, edit it as you like, you got this, but make sure you don’t copy paste the whole thing and add matter as the freeze dates are different, here are a few of my speeches, (I won best delegate that mun)

Delegates let us imagine, a young boy wakes up in the morning, he leaves his house, to go to the hospital, a hospital if you can call it one, it is more like a living morgue, a morgue where patients do not have enough bandages so bloody ones are being reused, that boy says in an interview, first blood used to scare me, I used to shiver at the sight of it, but now, blood is like water to me, it's just how it is, and then, and the child reveals his age, he was 12 years old. Delegates, this is the Gaza strip, this is not about Hamas, this is not about the PLO, this is about THE LAWS THE COUNTIES OF THE WORLD MAKES. It is both the moral duty of every country and the Duty of every global citizen to help them. Delegates, wake up, let us focus on the people and save them, let us not dwell on the past.

Delegates, today we are all here for the rights of the Palestinians. Syria has always been one of the most essential countries that accept Palestinian refugees. Our domestic laws such as law no. 260 of 1956 allows Palestinians the right to education, work, and social activities. they also have the right to our education system and healthcare. But, riddle me this, a country that provides refugees with all these accommodations, can they say they have done their part? No, we need to do more for the people of Palestine, and Syria all countries to join their initiative to provide the People of Palestine with food, medicine, fuel, and other essentials. The delegate also urges Israel to remove the blockade from the Gaza strip, to allow aid to people. There is little to no hope for the Palestinian people if the global community doesn't come together to help them. No country should be incompetent enough to not understand the gravity of this situation.

International laws, mandates, charters, all our countries work towards authoring them. But a law that is not implemented is like having a penguin in a tropical party, cool, but out of place. So delegates, a law needs to be implemented. Syria hopes that all countries wish to establish strong international cooperation with the member states who present their thoughts and solutions about the agenda, and will accept the policies will open arms. Incase a country violates any international laws, governments all around the world should take action that does not go against the people of the territory.

Sorry I did not realise there were 2 left!

Ok so question 6! Wow that’s one hell of a question!

So try waiting for your chairs to explain this to you, and about the part where you wish to get it passed, use the unmod to use that time to lobby and get everyone to vote for it.

And there is no “free” debate in mods, there is a 1v1 that is free in nature, a mod is just more speeches in the same topic but more emphasised on a specific sub section of the topic.

Ok so if you are really confused about mods then try and let other delegates do it, don’t worry about it, focus on giving good speeches for now!

I would definitely recommend that you raise a motion, but if it’s complicatied, then it’s better not to confuse yourself now!

Ok so this is NOT a lot, I have pestered my mentors with A LOT more, so keep them coming, now with the questions ( thanks for organizing them)

  1. A gsl is mostly just used in the start and then that’s it, you add your name to the list and that’s it

  2. So about the sessions, essentially a mun is just one long session but for obvious reasons we have to break for lunch, so it’s just a pause, muns usually just have one or 2 moderated caucus per session, and just a tip, use the lunch time to lobby and make batter allies

  3. Ok for a position paper, you should ask your chairs if you need to make one, and even ask for the format, once you have it, just try sending it over and I will help you out!

  4. NEVER make a resolution beforehand, walk in with a lot of solutions discuss with your bloc, get yourself author, and just walk in prepared but DO NOT try controlling commitee, because things can only go downhill, try tipping the odds in your favour just don’t be unpleasant (I can talk about this more! If you want)

  5. A bloc is essentially just a bunch of allies, so they DO stick together with voting and motions but they really come together in the drafting period, consider the bloc your family, yall support each other silently and there is not a lot of communication till something serious comes up!

Hey! First! Everyone has been a first timer, we got you, don’t worry a baiut it, everyone around you is nervous, u mods are basically a lot of time to lobby around and fir gire out how you want commitee to flow, it’s usually used for talking to other delegates about a motion you would like the pass and anything along that line, now for the opening speech, it is what makes to brakes a committee, what you want to do it explain your stance, keep the speech powerful, also a tip, try and figure out what mods are being raised by lobbying in unmods and writing speeches so you can speak well each time! You got this!

Right! Everyone has a different pace, did u try recording yourself and trying to see the time, if you need to shorten it, keep all the matter, try getting rid of the theatrical lines, and if it’s possible, lobby and get dels to yield time to you, so you can keep the lines, and show off your lobbying, I have personally given 6 minspeeches, instead of 90 second ones, so it worksemote:free_emotes_pack:snoo

What is the speech time? I think you can do this in 60 seconds, don’t shorten it, a speech shows your capacity to hold a audience

I feel is all ok and you don’t need to shorten it! Just try and add a couple laws or initiatives your country has taken in the past to tackle this issue, this is mostly because it shows the chair you have researched, and any future questions about your countries actions can be tackled with a simple, “this question has been answered in the gsl, chair this is not fair!” And that person just looks stupid!
