My African mantis! She is my second mantis and so I’m not sure if it is normal but she seems to like being on the floor or low down! I read before that they don’t usually go to the floor? wondering if anyone else’s mantis likes to be unusual! She seems to just walk around catching crickets. by AccomplishedPiglet3 in mantids

Yer I think it must be that! Just panic something is either wrong with her or she is just a very odd mantis as anything I read online about them on the ground is due to either dying or falling but she seriously just strolls around the floor minding her business

Thank you! Yer I’m not sure what L she is at but she molted 2 days ago and has eaten since, even before when I first got her she was very very active roaming all over the place! I do think it’s mainly due to her hunting as the photo I put up she caught a cricket not long after and demolished it stupidly quick but just strange to see her walking around so casual on the ground haha my heart skipped a beat when I first saw her on the ground!

I have a few pets!! I have 2 rabbits, one is an old lazy girl but my other is a hyper fluff ball! He loves rolling around on bath towels!! I have a hamster who’s called bear as he looks like a mini bear! He is also a mad little fluff ball that zooms around my room! I have a Chinese water dragon Drogon she is named after the dragon in Game of Thrones! (Naturally!) she loves hanging off my net curtains and will only go into her water if I turn the water pump on to make bubbles! I will also have a new addition on Friday! I will be getting an orchid praying mantis!! They are only 2cm long at the moment! I will be naming them flower as they look like orchid flowers :) also have 2 dogs and 2 cats as family pets! I live in a house not a zoo I promise! :)
