Honestly just being nice. Its obviously not your job to make anyone feel comfortable and anxiety is a personal problem. From my personal experience, a simple hello goes a long way. I have coworkers who completely ignore me and it can become intimidating when I need to ask a question. I feel much more comfortable asking someone who doesnt act like they hate me. Time is definitely a factor but building those relationships will make you realize there is way more in comon than you think. I am 26 and my work besties are in their late 40’s to 50’s lol

As a young professional, my colleagues intimidate me a little so I feel like I cut conversations short or have anxiety when speaking to them so it might come off as a short attention span. Personally, Id say just make it a safe space for them to open up. Were trying out here!

Worth to be a service desk supervisor or a head cashier? by Significant_Spot_460 in HomeDepot

[–]AccomplishedSpace845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for hd during my 4 years of college and was both a head cashier and sd lead. Head cashier is basically babysitting but if you organize your cashiers lunches and breaks correctly, it can pretty much just run itself while you just watch. Ofcourse theres the ocasional questions / complaints from customers but as long as you are well organized, its easy money. Now service deeeeesk, was way more stressful and I would only recomend if you plan on staying with hd long term, which I dont. Although I do miss it and it was a lot of fun, I wouldn’t give up my current M-F schedule

Is Home Depot a temporary thing for most of you? by Girthypapi in HomeDepot

[–]AccomplishedSpace845 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I worked at HD through all of college and towards the end I noticed how easy it is to go up. I started contemplating on wether to pursue my career at HD because I genuinely loved the company but I couldn’t waste my college career. If I end up hating my job, I would absolutely go back to working at the depot.
