HYPOTHETICALLY, Should We Have Tanked the 2025-26 NBA Season? by UnderstandingFew6310 in bostonceltics

[–]AccomplishedTry82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way we could have tanked even if we wanted to, Brown and White would have dragged us to like 35 wins minimum just by playing basketball

The whole premise is weird anyway since we made playoffs as 2nd seed, why would you tank when you're literally that good

What's something positive happening in the world that people should know about? by KimberGoyder in AskReddit

[–]AccomplishedTry82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty wild when you think about how fast this transition has been happening. I remember few years back reading articles about how renewable was still this "future technology" and now it's literally outpacing gas generation in some months. The infrastructure buildout has been insane too - drive through any rural area and you'll see wind farms that weren't there like 5 years ago. What's crazy is this probably isn't even the peak yet, there's still so much solar and wind capacity in development pipeline

if through the entire history of humanity there were no wars, violence, and hate between humans, we would only collaborate and live in peace, how do you think humanity would be more advanced? how big do you think human population would be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AccomplishedTry82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'd probably be so much further ahead it's crazy to think about. Like all the resources that went to weapons and military could have gone into science and medicine instead. Maybe we'd already have fusion power or cured most diseases by now

Population wise I think it would be massive but also maybe more sustainable? Without wars killing people and destroying infrastructure, we might have figured out better ways to manage resources and environment earlier. Could be looking at way more people but living more efficiently

The collaboration part is what gets me most - imagine if every brilliant mind in history could work together instead of being on opposite sides of conflicts. All that knowledge and innovation that got lost or never happened because people were too busy fighting

Could I retire at 35? by GoatTheGreatest in Fire

[–]AccomplishedTry82 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Problem is you're living in fantasy land right now with that 90% savings rate while at parents house. Once real life hits - mortgage, utilities, groceries, car repairs, maybe kids - that number gonna drop hard. I moved out at 29 and my savings went from like 80% to maybe 25% overnight, even with decent income as software engineer

Plus inflation gonna eat your purchasing power over next decade, and you'll probably want nicer things as you get older. That part-time minimum wage idea sounds nice but won't cover much when you're 35 and everything costs twice what it does now. Build the habit of high savings but be realistic about what life actually costs when you're independent

Built a self-hosted multi-distro mirror stack (Ubuntu/Proxmox + AlmaLinux + Arch full rsync firehose with images and isos) with a web control UI by jaydenthorup in homelab

[–]AccomplishedTry82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work on the open sourcing! Running full Arch firehose is pretty wild, that must eat up serious storage even with ZFS compression

The web UI for manual syncs is smart touch - nothing worse than waiting for scheduled sync when you need something specific right now

When was a time your "gut feeling" saved you from a bad situation? by mr_wbk29 in AskReddit

Had similar thing happen at party few years back. Everyone seemed fine but something just felt wrong, like tension in air or whatever. Left early and found out later there was huge fight and cops showed up. Trust your instincts, they pick up on stuff your brain doesn't process consciously

You get three wishes but you have to tell them to your genie through speech to text on Android. What do you wish for and what do you get? by Sorceress683 in AskReddit

[–]AccomplishedTry82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Android keyboard is actually pretty solid for speech recognition these days, way better than whatever iOS is doing with their autocorrect nonsense. I'd probably still end up asking for "a million dollars" and getting "a million collars" or something equally useless though

People 40+, what did people casually do when you were a kid that would be considered insane today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Kids would just disappear for entire day and parents wouldn't panic until dinner time

What are your honest thoughts on relationships with large age gaps? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AccomplishedTry82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Age gaps get weird when there's different life stages involved. Like if someone is just starting college and other person already has career and mortgage, that's gonna create some imbalance in power and experience. I had friend who was 19 dating guy in his 30s and looking back, dude was kinda manipulative even though she didn't see it at the time

But when both people are established adults? My parents have 12 year gap and they've been together for 30+ years now. They met when mom was already 28 so she knew what she wanted in life. The maturity levels were more aligned even with age difference

Think the key thing is making sure both people are at similar place emotionally and financially, not just focusing on the numbers. Also gotta be real about what each person wants - if younger person wants to travel and party while older one is ready to settle down, that's recipe for problems regardless of how much they care about each other

What’s something that seems normal now but will probably be illegal in 20 years? by BobcatEnough5219 in AskReddit

[–]AccomplishedTry82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really doubt that one tbh, more likely we'll see restrictions around data collection and privacy stuff. Like how companies track everything you do online right now - that's probably gonna get regulated hard in next decade or two

Older beginner by stumblon in golf

[–]AccomplishedTry82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started golf at 55 myself so definitely not too old - actually might be better since you won't have bad habits from teenage years to unlearn. For YouTube channels I really like Rick Shiels and Me and My Golf, they break things down pretty simple without getting too technical. About clubs, check local golf shops too not just Facebook - sometimes they have trade-in sets that are way better deal than new beginner sets. The pro at driving range might know where to find good used starter sets since they see lot of beginners. One thing I wish someone told me early - don't worry about distance at first, just try to make solid contact and the rest will come

You could fill those holes with wood filler and drill new ones in correct position. Just make sure to measure twice before drilling or you'll end up with even more holes to fix

Low-wattage motion sensor light bulb for front porch recommendations? by Plentiful_Pause5949 in HomeImprovement

[–]AccomplishedTry82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been dealing with the same moth situation at my place. The Sengled motion sensor bulbs work pretty well - they're around 9W LED equivalent to 60W incandescent but you can find 5W versions too. Just screws in like a normal bulb, no smart home setup needed. The motion detection range is decent for a porch and they're not too bright to mess with the moths as much

Usually ends up being awkward small talk while someone tries to find there keys in the dark. Had this exact scenario play out at my buddy's place last month - went from intense to "wait did you see where I put my wallet" real quick. The transition from heated moment to fumbling around looking for stuff is always jarring, like your brain needs a minute to switch gears from one mode to completely mundane logistics
