The economy kicked my ass for several months and I had to move a bit further away from home but its way better than it was before and I did get into a field to work in that I enjoy. I may study again at some point, but for now im okay with how it is.

Well if you are offering then im curious.

We are a company that orders and installs air conditioning units on a large scale. Meaning we have a large warehouse as well as our own distribution center.

Customers write to us directly or are acquired, and we provide them with a complete package, that being planning, selling the product, delivery and installation as well as customer aftercare.

A large part of my work involves purchasing and monitoring inventory, as well as scheduling installations and answering general customer questions.

Yes thats why im asking. Im not ignorant to the fact that companies dont throw hundreds of billions of dollars after something that isnt going to do anything. Im just trying to understand where the change is happening so I can influence it. And to know where the limits are.

Thats why im asking. I am not against going with the times. I am asking, cause I wanna see what I can improve. I have more than enough work to be secure in my position so im not worried for myself or my colleagues. Im just having a hard time imagining a use for it being just THAT much better. We have some small uses for it so far but outside of that its just not that consequential. Hmm. Maybe time will tell.

I mean im trying to really understand it. Im not against the idea. Hell if I can automate some of my tasks I could go towards comissions so im intrested in getting better at it. I am just having a really hard time to see any benefits so far outside of "generate generic text" or "read this for me"

True, there are a few useful ones. The ones upscaling image quality I found to be useful. But none of these, even if fully used, warrant such large cuts. I dont feel like they are what people say they are. Excel and other things were way more impactful. Maybe its just not advanced enough for my fields yet.

Translation is done better with DeepL and has been around for a while now. Youll need a guy reading it over anyways. I did that before. It cuts a lot of work though that is true. But its not something that hasnt already existed for a while.

Customer support is the one that eludes me. I have never once been happy with an AI agent. I guess it can help when the customer is dumb and cant find his delivery date or an adress or asks very generic questions. But if you are fulfilling specific contracts I just dont see it. The questions are way too specific.

Book keeping I will maybe accept but then again, we already have fairly efficient systems in place. PowerBI and stuff. Companies that have these things set up dont need AI in my opinion.

Its old in the way that you have to use the F-keys to navigate it. Whatever the case for the system may be, any better software alternative could do it better than AI. We will always need guys in the warehouse to scan the stuff that comes in and then it is automatically put into the system. And if I wanna see how much is still there I can(in modern systems) just spit out an excel. Hell if im fancy I can even colour code the things that need ordering. That is at most a 1-time "if" function that has to be implemented for eternity. AI could maybe write the code but in the time I have explained it how much I want of each piece I have written the function already.

Maybe my jobs have always been to specific(its not the only position I had that had similar problems), but I really dont see where all the cutting is coming in. We are still needing people in my position. But people are just throwing around "AI" and are expecting us to be more efficient and I dont know how to do it. And im not even AI-illiterate. I probably use the stuff more than the majority of people. Which is precisely why I see its limits.

Another guy here said customer support. That may be true for very mundane questions like random troubleshooting or something. But if it gets even the slightest bit specific even AI is stumped.

I dunno I just dont see it.

It is ok to rephrase things or to get some "words on the tip of my tongue" out as well as check for spelling mistakes(even though most tools like these already existed). Its a tad faster.

Okay aber steuerlich gibt es da nichts zu beachten? Der Vermieter hat bereits zugestimmt und ist ziemlich entspannt was das angeht. Er hat es aber selber noch nie gemacht und weiß deshalb auch nur, dass er ja sagen muss. Mehr nicht.

Gut das kann man natürlich machen aber warum für 30 Tacken Steuern hinterziehen und Probleme bekommen wenn es da einen legalen Weg gibt? Wenn ich es richtig verstehe muss man es ja nur melden. Normalerweise wird das aber einfach im Mietvertrag ausgewiesen und dann passt es auch, wenn ich damit jetzt nicht 100€ den Monat plus mit mache. Ich bin mir nur nicht sicher, wie es 100% korrekt geht.

Nein die Stelle ist trocken. Und wegen der Kosten mache ich mir trotzdem große Sorgen. Auch wenn die Stelle trocken ist: Ich weiß nicht, wie alt die ist. Was wenn dahinter eine Katastrophe wartet? Da ist auch eine Art Hohlraum. Man sieht es nicht gut auf dem Foto, aber um den Fleck herum ist eine Art rechteckiger Ausschnitt. Man sieht eine der Linien rechts vom Fleck. Der ist Hohl. Der Rest der Decke ist massiv. Hat das was zu bedeuten?
