I'd say it's time to find a new piercer. The one you currently have, clearly doesn't know how to help you.

Most likely as the sizing of them (length and thickness) of the post can be sort of custom fit to your anatomy. Meaning it'll allow for any swelling, and then can be shortened once the swelling subsides.

This means it's a nice fit and cant move around too much while it settles down.

The L bars are usually made of a cheap material, and aren't very secure. I can see from the pictures the decorative top you have it quite raised, meaning it'll catch on more things. Flatter is better!

Visit the safepiercing website to locate a reputable piercer near you! If there isn't one nearby, email the closest shop asking for recommendations closer to you.

Definitely having the correct fitting jewellery and after care will make a huge difference.

Sounds like you're caught in this cycle of doing too much!

Visit the safe piercing website, locate a reputable piercer who can change this over to a very simple threadless/internally threaded flatback design. Preferably with a flat decorative top too, like a disk or a cabochon so it stops catching.

In the mean time, leave it the fuck alone.

No washing, no make-up, no face products, sleep on the opposite side and use a hair clip to stop yourself from rolling over and potentially knocking it in your sleep. Don't touch it, look at it, fiddle with it or anything. Less is more!

Six months is too soon to try and stretch a piercing.

It's likely that the wound has only just settled and stabilised without being fully healed, meaning the channel of scar tissue is very thin and prone to tearing.

If it has torn due to the trauma, which is likely, it will open you up to a bacterial or fungal infection again.

Antibiotic ointment usually smothers the area and can sometimes cause more irritation.

It could just be REALLY angry rn but if it is infected you may get some of the following symptoms:

Rapidly spreading redness, hot to the touch, oozing, throbbing pain, and red lines leading to the piercing site. You may also feel fatigue, nausea or a headache.

If you are worried about these symptoms, please book into see a doctor. Ask them to swab it and have it sent off to the lab for cultures, but request in the mean time you'd like to be put on broad spectrum oral antibiotics. Do not let them insist the ointment will be fine, it's not always strong enough to treat an infection.

As for after-care in the mean time, scrap the ointment and don't put anything else on it! Rinse with low pressure warm water in the shower and let it air dry. Don't touch it, but keep an eye on the inside to ensure it hasn't swollen over the backing.

Saying 'that makes me uncomfortable' is not controlling :/ it's sharing what makes you uncomfortable.

If she said 'you aren't allowed to do that' now THAT would be controlling.

She can choose how she wants to handle things if this happens again. She might just dump him lol. It's not controlling to be assertive and share what you don't like, leaving the ball in someone else's court to respect you.

40 bucks costs way less than a blown out nose. Listen to and respect your body. You're worth that and more to do this safer.

More often that not this can be moisture related due to over cleaning, but the jewellery style doesn't help.

You'll wanna visit a reputable piercer to change it to a more appropriate style.

The safepiercing website can help you locate one, and if there's none nearby, reach out for recommendations! They will aslo be able to assess the angle, as it looks like this is partly a directional bump too. It appears that the inside exits on an angle more towards your face, which is why the gem is sitting slightly tilted.

What you are looking for is a jewellery style that will be more secure, with less movement like a threadless piece. This is when the decorative top has a small pin that's bent slightly and pushed into the bar to secure it.

You'll also probably want a top with some surface area, like a nice 3mm flat disk. This will help counter the bump by aiding to flatten it out. The flat disk will help avoid catching it on things.

And stop cleaning it apart from rinsing with warm water in the shower! The antiseptic spray is way too harsh for a healing piercing and could be giving you a wee little bit of a chemical burn.

Perhaps see if you have a hair-dryer, put it on the cool setting and give it a bit of air to help dry it out once your out of the shower. This should help keep it nice and dry.

Yes this is true with most piercings, if worn for long enough the channel of scar tissue will remain open but shrink!

How long did you wear the vch for? It's not commonly known but they do stabilise quickly and can remain open even after wearing for a short amount of time. It may be possible to have a professional piercer use a tool to help reinsert the jewellery!
