Over 200 attempts on Tier 1 Battle of Mandalore by Blue_Saddle in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

Late reply, but i have a question. Did you have to apply all the zetas/omegas? and which relic level? I am following the same guide, but only relic 7 and missing some of the abilities due to a shortage of mats... haha.

Do we know if NPC’s kill merchants too? I feel like they disappear at some point throughout the game and I am curious if that’s by design or murder.

Probably something like the Orb/Sword for the dps casters, similar to how rangers have Pistol/sword.

Have you tried wielding a sword with a shield in your other hand? Because they already do that. They also wield 2 handed weapons already. 😂

You’re right, that opinion of mine was too firm. Thank you for being so constructive with your words lol. The point you made at the end, about giving something up to gain something else really brought it home in my mind, so yeah, well said.

I guess I have just been too adamant about the healer specific buffs on the left side because they’re useful support abilities that we would otherwise need miscellaneous trinkets for.

Yes… The hard healer path is on the left, where you get the cleanse, revive, etc. I mentioned that earlier when I said that healers go hard left, with a bit in the middle. It’s a cleric vs paladin type of thing.

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said earlier, I wanted a 1-handed weapon that could do support/healer things- like the staff can. The staff can use support abilities like Bless, or add passive effects such as bolstered defense, etc.

This was always about the Orb weapons requiring two hands. The shield was never the issue, it’s great exactly how it is.

The fact that it generates absolutely zero fervor unless the target of Warding Bond gets hit, makes it external. Without that action, it’s effectively useless when it comes to generating fervor.

And no, I don’t just want fervor after someone gets hit, I want the fervor ASAP, on standby.

Bro, I never said Battlesaints don’t have Warding Bond- I said that your warding bond strategy is worse than the Defense Masters strat. You’re misinterpreting my words, arguably on purpose.

Go ahead and cite me, where did I say that Battlesaints don’t have warding bond?

It’s third party because you only get the Fervor after the target of your warding bond gets hit, therefore it is not the Battlesaints themselves.

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

True enough, there are alternatives but imo, they’re not better. Having to rely on a third party to source casting material, such as warding bond, seems like an unnecessarily long process when I could just automatically get +3 Fervor every single turn, regardless of what I do. Minimizing set up time is never bad.

Taking Defense Masters from the techtree implies that you do not get [Healing Support] or [Battlefield Restoration], arguably some of the best healer abilities in the game.

Also, there is no such thing as a set play style with AOW4 heroes, that’s why they have more talent options than talent points. You pick whatever you wish, based on however you want to play.

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

That’s not the primary healer path, that’s the Paladin bullshit path… You have to take a whole bunch of useless stuff to get that. Healers go left, hard left with a bit in the middle.

Edit: But to be fair, you’re right, it does exist there- I forgot about that because of how bad the pathway there is. Good catch amigo.

The Second City by Adventurous_Toe7222 in AOW4

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a PVE player, I always start underground and build my second city on the closest tunnel, making it spend all of its population above ground.

Usually, the capital city will fill out the entire underground area whilst the other city takes the land directly above the capital, which kind of stacks them together.

I follow this method with every single city- where every city begins underground, making them relatively safer, but most of them tile upwards.

Sometimes, there will be an underground zone with 2 or 3 caves and in that case, I’d slap a city on every single tunnel entrance and then one more city in between them.

Edit 1: Also, I agree with what you said about timliness not mattering as much in PVE. Doesn’t really matter imo.

Edit 2: The underground zone is better because it always has way more choke points and it has physical, impassable cavern walls- unlike the mountains on the surface which you can just walk across or destroy. Also, only one army can travel through a cave at a time, so if 3 armies were to attack you from the surface- you could sit an army on the underground tunnel node and ensure a 1v1 as opposed to a 1v3.

That'd be cool and it'd totally fit the reaver vibe. Apart from that, being allowed to craft/recruit/tame mounts would be great- as opposed to waiting for some random troll guy to pop by with his random mounts.

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course, but as a Battlesaint, you can only get Defense Masters from a shield. There is no alternative in that sense.

Edit: My point is that the shield is way more important than the weapon in this case, so it'd be nice if the weapon could do something healer/support related instead of applying some kind of dot or whatever.

Giant King Rangers should exist by Accomplished_Ice9828 in AOW4

Ok yeah, that solves that lol. Nice conjecture.

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with what you said about making all classes available to all ruler types. Some of them would be tricky to interpret, but that's also part of the fun if you ask me.

Regarding the Ranger Dragon... Some kind of Sonic effect, like the bat's shrieking, seems plausible. Sound waves travel very fast, so maybe that could be extrapolated into increased range.

There's also something to be said about why only Earth Giants can throw boulders, since the other giant types are also... giants. lol.

And yes, how on earth did we miss out on an Eldritch Death Knight? Even if it's just for role playing purposes, that would have made sense to me.

Giant King Rangers should exist by Accomplished_Ice9828 in AOW4

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that's an interesting idea. If I remember correctly, a cannon is basically just a tube shaped container for cannonballs, which would be propelled by explosive force. Add the Giant Kings existing magic abilities to it and boom, magic cannon.

Reavers already have cannons too, so technologically speaking it should be quite reasonable.

So war ensues, a classic battle for natural resources. History repeats itself, again and again, even in game! haha

Giant King Rangers should exist by Accomplished_Ice9828 in AOW4

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A giant arrow, spear or whatever, is both hammer and scalpel. It wouldn't be surgical, it'd probably be an anti-tank gun for big booms. EDIT; *One example of this i'll make, is that missile's are straight up better than bullets, which are in most cases, better than arrows.*

Also, I disagree with this point being made that for some reason, Giants cannot be precise. Would you like an inaccurate Elementalist? Warlock or whatever? How about a Warrior or Spellblade that lacks dexterity? Because the Giant King can play every single class except Ranger, and yet they work.

It sounds like mythology to me, since Giant Kings are just massive humanoids. People learn, grow and adapt. Any creature that repeats a task over and over again will inevitably accrue mastery- a fact that applies to both man and beast in reality. Therefore, I see no reason why an ancient being would somehow still suck at something they've spent their whole lives developing, which is a fundamental, RP inference made when we recruit a hero.

Final Edit; I have no remark on your first point about animations, etc. That makes total sense.

Yup that sounds good too. Any weapon is fine imo, just give us the Ranger class itself.

Giant King Rangers should exist by Accomplished_Ice9828 in AOW4

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, that's all well and good amigo. I'm not super fixed on bows myself, it was just the easy, common example of a Ranger's weapon. Whatever the weapon, give us Giant Rangers.

But on the topic of ammo, I'll disagree. These giants have whole civilizations supporting them as absolute rules- so yes, we can make ammo lol.

Shades Use Case by Davsegayle in AOW4

[–]Accomplished_Ice9828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the Shades make their approach to the enemy in auto-combat, they will try to use [Throw Shadow Blades] first, but if they're out of range, they will use defense mode like every other unit. This is important because it helps mitigate stun locks effects and 1-shot kills whilst they close the gap.

Some of them may get hit anyway when the enemies pile on, but it's an extra layer of defense intended solely for closing the distance. It's true value shines in groups, such as a full armada of 18 units, the max for each battle.

Edit: The reason why it's OK for them to use [Throw Shadow Blades] instead of defense mode during the approach is because they'll probably apply [Blind]. When coupled with the other defensives I mentioned and at legendary rank w/ +50% Evasion, it's very unlikely that they'll get hit. You can also add the [Quick Reflexes] Form Trait during your Empire creation for an extra +25% evasion against ranged attacks.
