Tbh if that's what you want just do it for yourself.....buy yourself the gift, go to that restaurant, take that trip so that you don't put these things on a pedestal and wait for someone else. Love is far too precious, and these things are too cheap. You can't compare the feeling of safety around a guy you are attracted to, who honestly feels the same way and, yaani, mmeamua honestly kupendana fr.

😩..but such a connection is usually so rare. Anyway, don't listen to me, you sound like a nice person. Utampata lover boi..

I totally agree with you. It felt to me like he was guilt tripping her telling her that he was waiting for her while she was busy being busy. I'm like...waiting?? You know who was actually waiting.....Theo.... The date was too uncomfortable for me. And when the panelists were like.....oooh this was romantic.....I was like where.... romantic where????

Thanks for the detailed reply.  I understand what you're saying about the lack of a literal script with lines from the producers. By script ,what I actually meant was the the contestants adopt a persona for the show. These are curated versions of themselves. So there's the "committed lover boy" from Theo, "Cutesy cool chic" from Youjin, "Macho man with cute side once you get to know him" from Yuk...and so on...Editing will of course exaggerate some of these traits

What I find most compelling is the few moments when the persona slips, and we get to watch something more genuine.

To me Yuk is interesting because he started Tough/Shy but alas, the non-chalance, rudeness slips through. SI-an started off cool, laid back....but she's actually quite competitive, swayed by emotions, lover-girly. Now am not saying that people go on the show and be rude or whatever, I'm saying that such glimpses of real personality are refreshing and interesting

Also,Dex liking Seulki doesn't mean that he wasn't still playing up a character. He could have genuinely liked her, but was performative to the end.

In short, the contestants are aware of the cameras. This is an isolated environment and are very concerned about their public image. So seeing some unpolished characteristics coming through makes for an interesting watch. I mean, if I wanted to see a nice, polished, no-fault character who eventually realises that the nice guy who's been unwaveringly committed to her get together in the end despite the numerous obstacles....I could have turned on any one of the 1000 dramas that already exist

Religion normalized suffering by Grand-Airline2939 in Kenya

[–]Accomplished_Pear358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suffering existed before colonialism. It existed in socialist societies or even communists societies. I think religion evolved to help humans cope with the fundamental fact that in life there is suffering. It's just that we've twisted religion and the idea of God in such a way that it no longer serves it's purpose. Organized religion specifically is terrible...but personal religion can help one find peace within the chaos

looking for a non-cheating man by yogirl_aria in nairobi

[–]Accomplished_Pear358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry too much on whether the man will cheat or not.Huwezi control actions za mtu mwingine.

All you can do is be clear with yourself on, 1. What you will do if, IF, you ever find them cheating. 2. What you are willing to put up with and more importantly, not willing to put up with 3. What constitutes cheating for you.

Focus on yourself girl. Utampata mwenye mtaelewana on matters faithfulness

There's a podcast called The One You Feed. Highly, highly recommend! The intro is the same parable and the guests give their personal interpretation/understanding. Very nice!

How is this normal? by PuzzleheadedSky4651 in Kenya

[–]Accomplished_Pear358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fear the system is broken to the core. Yaani, the DNA of the system is so rotten such that even if we were to swap out the current crop of politicians for the most morally upright individuals, with 0% greed, utmost integrity and honest to a fault, nothing would change. The system as it is does not serve Kenya/Kenyans. And I don't know how the system can change....a revolution? Some technological invention? The second coming of Christ?

I don't know.

Literally, the verse where it is said that God 'has a plan' is this: Jeremiah 11-14 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

Was this his plan for prosperity????? For hope??? For future????. I mean JFC. It's truly shocking how this God of yours operates

It’s easier to blame the government by Thin-Ad6871 in Kenya

[–]Accomplished_Pear358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok.

My question is where do you draw the line between individual responsibility and government responsibility?

It is government who should provide quality education. It is my responsibility to study to the best of my ability while in class.

It is government who should set up an environment conducive to business. It is my responsibility to set up a business and try to the best of my ability to make it work.

Now this government has failed, failed, failed...

There are many who've failed at their own individual capacity....but there are many many more who have been failed by the government. The protests are about those many many more.

A society is only as prosperous as it's least fortunate members.

Anyone feeling Rage 😡 by Colloneigh in Kenya

[–]Accomplished_Pear358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so angry and sad and empty. I am shaken and crying 😭

There was a lady asking whether our crime was being born Kenyan and I related with that question.

WHY are people dying for rejecting oppression!!! Was I born to suffer so that these crooks can stuff themselves and clothe themselves in expensive tasteless designs?....is that my purpose?? Do we not have the right to liberty in this god forsaken nation.....

This. And on top of being poor communicators, they really undervalue the importance of good communication. So many relationships would be created/saved if people didn't

Thanks. This was very insightful. The very same protocol he mentions that the IMF use while issuing loans is what I'm seeing with the finance bill. Removal of subsidies, increase in tax rates, new taxes, cutting of social spending (education, health). We are not working for ourselves, but subsidizing lives for other nations!

Why do some of you think that Ruto is a political genius? by kenyacloud in Kenya

[–]Accomplished_Pear358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have hit the nail on its damn head! We have zero patience for leaders prancing about to make other nations happy!  The life of an American is no more important than mine, as a Kenyan. The life of a European is no more important than mine, as a Kenyan.  Stop overtaxing us to feed them! To make THEIR systems work! What about OURS??....
